jpk
Why didn't they land at JFK or Logan instead of flying all the way to LA, or any other nearby airport where they could have gotten on the ground faster?

The heart attack happened when they were in the LAX approach pattern, 15 minutes from landing. She apparently wasn't showing any symptoms earlier in the flight. That is not uncommon as when women have heart attacks, they don't show symptoms the same way men do (i.e. the left arm pain etc...). Plus, international flights to the west coast typically don't fly over/near the US East Coast but rather over central Canada due to the curvature of the Earth.
jpk
I didn't know when it was that it was discovered she was in distress. I've flown to and from Europe from the east coast but never the west. Didn't know they flew over Canada to get to the west.
speedlimit
Just heard Debbie Reynolds, Carrie Fisher's mom died a day after her daughter died. She was 84. She was probably got so heart broken and depressed and with her fragile state her body just gave way. Very sad. RIP to both Mother and Daughter.
