falcon20driver
Just realized I may have screwed up the sponsons. It's fixable, but frustrating.
Winnie
Nice progress!! Gotta love the King!
B-ONE27
Your Sea king is looking great so far bro, I know you said your undecided on markings but can ya tell us whether your going for a high vis or low vis bird or not sure yet either?
falcon20driver
It will most likely be a Gull Grey scheme, but I'm not sure yet. I'm still shopping around for possibilities. I need to get my big P-47 finished up then I can really dig into this build.
Ant Phillips
The cockpit interior looks great, I'm following this one for sure.
Winnie
Any way you paint the King is awesome! I have one that is almost ready for paint, going to be a Sea Griffins bird from USS Nimitz around 1980, I may toy with that a little too... hmmm
Ichitoe
Both builds are coming along nicely! I say go for a high-vis scheme as you need something to counter that big old red grin of the P-47! Mike
falcon20driver
Thanks guys. Still contemplating the colors... I got the sponsons on after a lot of trouble. Why? Because I rushed and thought Hasegawa screwed up and couldn't figure out why they wouldn't fit flush against the fuselage. Come to find out, the real things don't either! So I had to go back and use plastic rod and remake the mounts, which took a lot of fiddling to get something resembling correct. I think a bit more clean up and painted will hide most of my sins, and hopefully it doesn't knock the gear out of alignment.
falcon20driver
My P-47 is all wrapped up, so it's full speed ahead on the helicopter. Today's project is working on the tail and some more body clean up.
falcon20driver
Ever have one of "those" days... Thank goodness I realized what happened quick enough to not cause more damage. Then it was out with the micro mesh and polishing wheel. I was afraid I screwed up big time but I think it's fixed.
tobiK
You are heading on quick! I hope I will see your king in a high viz dress as I like the "old" colorful navy birds, hmmm....!?
Winnie
Good save! I did that to my westland Lynx... With about a quarter tube of superglue to get the resin nose to stick.. didn't realize until i let go, that I couldn't... lol
AndrewPerren
Good save on the glass. I remember when I built my Sea King I kept the sponsons off as a subassembly to aid painting. Brass pins brought it all together when done.

It's tricky trying to learn how to build these helicopters. I should have my decals finalized next time I'm home.
ice225
Nice save! Keep it up - every Sea king deserves a nice finish!
falcon20driver
I believe I'll be going with HS-11 as my scheme. Simple, classic Sea King markings. These were graciously sent to me by SonyKen. Unfortunately, progress will be slowing a lot right now as I'm starting a new job so I won't have as much time as previously for awhile. scotthldr
Any updates?
falcon20driver
No. A new job, car issues, and spring house chores have drastically cut into modelling time.
