G4M2 Betty....Mitsubishi interior color?

Recommended Posts

Just checking I've got this right.  From the info I've seen on the net the interior colour of a Betty was not the blue green Aotake but more of a standard green like USN or RAF green?   Here's one thread explaining it...........

I've used Humbrol 117 so far.   Is this correct?

From everything I've read, MOST of the time Aotake was used as a primer, in much the same way the Americans used Yellow Zinc Chromate. MOST of the time, Japanese cockpits were overpainted in various shades of green or blue-gray. I don't have expert knowledge on the Betty, but the cockpit green that Mitsubishi used on many of their planes was a yellow green, quite similar to, but slightly darker than, US Interior Green, (≈ FS 34151).

A Google Image search of "G4M2 Interior NASM" yields several color photos of the late-model Betty forward fuselage in storage with the Smithsonian.  The primary interior color indeed resembles something similar to U.S. Interior Green.
