adamitri
Does anyone have pics of 87-0210 as the 90 TFS/AMU Commanders a/c ?
F16CrewChief
Yes. I shot this Seymour-Johnson jet marked up as the 90th TFS Commanders jet as it was passing through Luke AFB on 16 May 1991. It was painted up for the 'Stand-up' of the 90th TFS at Elmendorf. Unfortunately, the 90th TFS/ 21st TFW never operated F-15Es. With the soon to be reorganization, the unit was changed to the 90th FS under the 3d Wing. Here is a shot of the marked up 21st TFW Wing Jet on the same day: Hope this helps! adamitri
Fresh outta the paint barn ? Wow. I have one old grainy pic with overcast of the 90th TFS/AMU @ Elmo. Thanks so much
F16CrewChief
These were SJ Jets that were painted up for the ceremony. As far as I know, the 90th FS never operated anything but FY 1990 jets with the MSOGS oxygen system and the F100PW229 engines. I shot quite a few of these at Luke over the years: Good Times! adamitri
Hmmph, I took my pic july/aug 1991 at Elmo's open house so who knows.
adamitri
Towards the end of the 90th's Strike Eagle reign, they did operate the FY 87 jets and 87-210 was one of them.

adamitri
I did Google and found that pic too. But its the 90 FS pic, not the TFS/AMU jet.
kellyF15
When we did the swap with the 391st in 02-03 we got 87,88,89 and one 90 model, 90-0227 which was a 220 jet. 87-0210 was the 90FS jet as stated above taking 90-0233's place. I got 87-0182 to replace my old jet 90-0239. That picture at the top was probably just a repaint for a walk around or something. The original delivery 90th jets were all 229 jets starting with 0233 which I believe was the first production 229 F-15E. When I got there in 99 this is what we had: 90-0233 90-0234 90-0235 90-0236 90-0237 90-0238 90-0239 90-0240 90-0241 90-0242 90-0243 90-0244 90-0245 90-0246 90-0247 90-0249 90-0250 90-0252 90-0253 90-0254 91-1600 Later that year we got 90-0248,255, and 259 from Lakenheath
Ol Crew Dog
There was a time that we would have the TFS on right side with the AMU on the left tail. We also did the same with OG and EMS, we weren't aLways under Ops we had our own separate supervision a structure till the rift in the early 90s.
F16CrewChief
I agree, I never saw any pre-1990 serials of the PW220 jets in the 90th FS. They were frequent visitors to Luke back in the day. 87-0210 and 881687 were SJ jets painted up for the stand-up ceremony only Hope you enjoyed the pics!
adamitri
I just noticed the s/n number on 0210 has the wrong FY painted on the 90 TFS/AMU jet. Werent '88 jets last four 1XXX's ?
F16CrewChief
You are correct! If you click on the link of the picture you will see the text I wrote: F-15E 87-0210 (Bogus tail number 88-210 applied to fin) assigned to the 4th Wing at Seymour-Johnson AFB in special marks for the 90th TFS bed-down at Elmendorf AFB.Photo taken at Luke AFB on 16 May 1991.At the time the units was still going to be designated 90th TFS, under the 21st TFW. By the time Elmendorf got their factory new 1990 model acft the unit was designated the 90th FS, and the 3d Wing had replaced the 21st TFW.
