757flyer
Had three 160th MH-47Gs pass through the home field today, and I had a couple questions... What is the small weathervane-looking antenna(?) on the upper fuselage? There are two on the aircraft photo'd below. In other threads I have read that a good color match is 50% black and 50% Army Helo Drab. Is that still a good starting place? Are the markings Helo Drab? Thanks
HeavyArty
The 'egg-beater" antennas are for satellite coms. The color looks closer to black to me, but the black/helo drab mix will also work. The markings are OD Green and available from Werner's Wings.
757flyer
Many thanks for the reply. It is always interesting to see how many lumps and bumps and boxes and probes there are on the SOAR birds... I haven't had time to check, but is there a reasonable way to build one of these -Gs in 1/72?
Floyd S. Werner, Jr.
I believe that Italeri did the G or E in 1/72nd. The G differences are mostly in the cockpit. There are shrouded exhausts but they aren't always fitted. Floyd
757flyer
Floyd, The shrouds are installed in the photo above, correct? Thanks, Mike

Sarathi S.
The Italeri MH-47E will get you close enough. There will probably be some scratch building required to make it perfect, but it's a workable one. The biggest changes I think are the CAAS cockpit in the MH-47G.
