Falconxlvi
So I have a question regarding most of the early F-14A pics I have seen online. Where are the AIM-9G training rounds? What did they look like? Did the F-14A not routinely carry them for BFM practice? There is a single picture in the Detail and Scale Colors and Markings book on the F-14A that shows a VF-41 bird with what appears to be a CATM-9G, but that's about the only one I have seen, and it's not an up close picture. Can we make one from the Tamiya AIM-9G missiles in the kit by painting the missile body blue and cutting off the fins? So many questions, but I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on the CATM AIM-9G. Steve Edited February 20, 2017 by Falconxlvi
Finn
This one, in b&w and probably an L, shows it had the front wings removed: https://catalog.archives.gov/id/6406276 others pics shows the rear fins were removed, and still others had the wings and fins still on but all had blue bodies, except for the seeker heads which were "live" so i guess all options were available. Steve, that is certainly what they were like in my day on the F-8, and this photo would indicate that it was the same on the F-14. hth, Tom
