Jimbles
Guten Tag, I'm quite new to the modeling scene (I've only made two other models); And for my third model, I plan on using the "Tamiya basic type putty" to fill in the gaps to hopefully make it look better. Now, I've never used putty before so I'm looking for the best way to apply putty into a seam. Any suggestions/tips would be appreciated, Grüß Gott.
phantom
Keep it simple. I apply a thin line to whatever needs it. Then wipe a T-tip over the line to even it out. Remove over excess with a tissue. Give it a day to dry. Sand flush.
Andrew D. the Jolly Rogers guy
I use a really old hobby knife, the disposable ones with the #11 blade in the black plastic handle. The sharpest bit of the tip is long gone, and the rest of the blade 'way dulled down. I use it as a putty knife and can apply it precisely where I want/need.
ST0RM
If its a long seam, I line tape along both sides of the seam. Apply the putty using an old knife or a "putty chisel" I make from a popsicle stick. Remove the tape and let the putty dry. The tape prevents excess putty and reduces the amount of sanding, possibly destroying detail.
