F4DPhantomII
Which engine was generally shut down 1st 1 or 2.One being leftside engine 2 being right side. I just want o know which nozzle would be closed and which one would be open. Thanks
jester292
A quick google image search suggests that the left engine was shut down first. But there are images with the right nozzle closed instead. Either would be ok on your model.

twong
You don't always have to have one open and one closed. Here are a couple examples of both open. http://www.aviationphotocompany.com/p226855169/h756b5a63#h756b5a63 http://www.aviationphotocompany.com/p226855169/h704be090#h704be090 Here is one with the left closed and right open. http://www.aviationphotocompany.com/p226855169/h726e9b3d#h726e9b3d Here is one with the left open and right closed. http://www.aviationphotocompany.com/p226855169/h3cd9e03#h3cd9e03 Edited March 3, 2017 by twong
tomthegrom
It all depends. I heard some crews at airshows got sick of being asked "why is one engine bigger than the other?" so on shut down if you pulled a couple of circuit breakers and the nozzles would end up the same. With F-14 B/Ds the "norm" is both open on shut down, however there is photographic evidence again which says it depends! Both open, closed, on open etc. You can do what you want and not be wrong pretty much.
F4DPhantomII
I ask because when I was a crewchief on the F-4D Phantom II the right (no.2)started and shut down before the left(no.1)
