I have just finished the basic UH-1 marking infrastructure (scaled drawings etc.), so I am ready to do some UH-1 sheets for the incoming Kitty Hawk kit. I will do a Vietnam era sheet for sure, but I need your suggestions for other USAF/USN/USMC subjects, international Hueys, etc.

Whitey, you're right. I just realized the new kit will be a D.

P.S. That red E model does something for me!

Oh yeah, I'm doing that one regardless...pretty simple and will definitely stand out. Looks like a faded out "YUMA" on the tail.

The others are HML-771 USMCR birds out of the old NAS S. Weymouth MA. I have two old Monogram kits (the No. 5202 kit) kicking around so... :rolleyes:

That red one is indeed awesome - who makes a suitable short-fuselage UH-1 in 1/48?

The Monogram Huey Hog kit is about the only game in town. Fujimi and Lindberg did a 1/48 UH-1B also but not as well detailed. Cobra Company/Lone Star Models does a UH-1C correction set that has the wider tail, and larger tail planes. Monogram also released a "Huey Chopper" (Kit 5202) version that is a little harder to find. It is essentially the same kit, but with the roof panel replaced with a version that has the hoist and hoist motor housing;

Edit: I forgot, Hobbyboss recently released a UH-1C as well...

At the rate we're getting new kits these days it's not hard to imagine a new-tool UH-1 series in 1/48 scale within the next few years. The helicopter has seen enough service around the world that it would have immediate appeal across multiple markets.

Pray to whatever god(s) you believe in.  :)

Maybe a Thai Huey in the blue/grey scheme? The camouflaged Department of State birds used in Afghanistan looked quite nice as well. Some useful pics here:

I'll assume you already have one of the Turkish ones from Izmir airshow a few years ago in mind. ;)

I hope someone gets into the detail parts business. I was ready to order some side guns for the Huey from Cobra, and they closed up. :( Anyone hear anything or know of anyone else who makes the side guns? Thanks!!

Thank you, Whitey!! You just made my day!!! That MH-53 gun set is a must! I grabbed a Huey for XMas, and then came the closing news! :( But much like Toys Are Us, you just turned my frown upside down! Thanks again!!
