Maybe it's the same on the XF-104, but it might be unpainted, given the darker color. It's not a dielectric panel, the elevator actuator is housed there. The top one is aluminum on the F-104G. I'm beginning to wonder if Alclad 'dark aluminium' might be a better bet X plane fan - Thanks for the photos. I have already seen them, and others, and the colour looks different in all of them.
