Fefster
Hello friends. I'm working on a 1/48 Tomcat of Hasegawa and I have the need to recreate the GPS dome behind the cockpit. Anyone know a good tip to do it? Thanks for any advice
gb_madcat_sl
Look for part C50. This is the nose cap for early Tomcats that did not have the nose pitot. Sand the point down to a dome shape and attach to the spine. Alternatively, you can use plastic rod or stretched sprue. Just sand the point to a dome shape. Fefster
Mark thank you very much for the tip. I would never have thought to use the nose cap. Greetings
Fefster
Ready, C50 piece and some scratch for circular base. Looks good to me. Maybe a little more sandpaper. Cheers!!!
Janissary
A little late to the game but melted sprue pushed through a metallic template could also work: http://www.arcforums.com/forums/air/index.php?/topic/279141-148-hasegawa-f-4e-tuaf-sea/&do=findComment&comment=2679816 Yours look good though. Thank´s Janissary Your example is another very good tip. Previously I had done it in a similar way but using plastic putty (automotive) But I did not work for me. He had also pushed molten plastic but on a plastic template and did not fit well. I think I needed a metal template.
Janissary
Sounds good. On a side note, I feel uber sophisticated with that Spanish going on for me. I need a good looking face to go with that though :)
