Moebius 1/72 Scale Interstellar Ranger

Recommended Posts

Hi all. I joined this forum a while ago. There are some many great builds here! I thought I'd finally post something. :-)

This is my take on Moebius’ 1/72 Ranger from Interstellar (a movie I quite enjoyed). It was built out of the box, with the addition of a Polar Lights base. I used Tamiya and Vallejo acrylic paints and Alclad metals for, well, the metal parts. I also weathered the model since the Rangers in the movie appear to have been well-used. I didn’t use Paragrafix’ photoetch, though the kit would certainly have benefitted from it. Still, it builds up quite well. The only things I really wish Moebius had included were clear window inserts and a base.

Unfortunately, when I was polishing the windows (Tamyia glossy black) I destroyed one of the “Rescue” decals. Moebius didn’t have any to sell me, but a kind-hearted soul from the Starship Modeller forums sent me a high-res scan and I was able to print a passable replacement.

you've done a great job of an unfortunately lack-luster subject. I've never really taken to the design myself but I appreciate good building and weathering skills, and whilst the ship does nothing for me, I really like what you've done with it. I hope to see more of your work here

Hey welcome to the forums. Hope you enjoy your stay.

That build looks pretty nice. I had not really payed too much attention to that model but seeing yours I may have to reconsider that. It does look very nice.
