I built the 1/35 Tamiya A way back, the 70s mold with only half the road wheels and oversized turret.From what I have read this kit is 90ish and much better but not as detailed as the Dragon kit. I built 2 Dragon kits a few years ago, the Russian T-34/76 Mod. 1941 with Magic Tracks and the Orange Box Henschel turret King Tiger, Ambush At Poteau, both were excellent builds. The Magic Track was much easier to do than I had thought. Maybe after this I will try Dragon's Porsche turret with Zimmerit. The only thing stopping me from a Dragon Ausf. G is price, they are way out there and the "economy boxings" aren't to be found. Also I am looking at a steel wheeled G, number 221, an abandoned Peiper tank, would it have had an ivory colored interior and side skirts? The pictures I have seen of it KO'd show no skirts, but it may have been scavenged. Tamiya #35174 Panther G Steel Wheel Version unfortunately has the incorrect size for the steel wheels! The actual steel wheels were a smaller diameter, compared to the regular road wheels, something Tamiya missed. I'm currently building this kit, with Tamiya etch for the engine deck, Tamiya individual track links too. Utilising the regular road wheels, (in part due to the 'steel' size error) which once I discovered, influenced my decision to build the 'ambush' scheme/night scope version. Recommend the Dragon kit #6370 for a correct steel wheel Panther G. I also have the Dragon kit, which in my area, was less expensive than the Tamiya kit & Tamiya accessories (combined). Granted, the DML prices have gone up since then, so definitely shop around. Regarding the Tamiya kit for buildability, it basically falls together, so a nice build. The Tamiya engineering & fewer parts count is why I'm building it before the DML kit. All 3 Tamiya Panther G's are nice kits, for trouble free builds out of box, with only the steel wheel size error to consider. HTH. Quote Link to post Share on other sites
