Scooby
We put the targeting pod on station four, port side. If I understand your question correctly. Edited May 14, 2017 by Scooby

Niels
The picture you refer to is from June 2007, at a time when the older targeting systems was still in use, atleast on that perticular deployment on the Nimitz. Today, USMC units usually carry the Litening pod on the centerline. Spain and Canada however carry them on station 4, although Spain also carry it on centerline on occations. Mizar
How much the targetting pod FOV was narrowed down with a drop tank next to it?
Niels
Depends on what you want to see basically. If you're looking down, you don't have any obstruction from the tank. If you need to look sideways you may want to bank the aircraft to get a straight line of sight, or change direction or similar that will give you clear sight.
GW8345
Back then the Legacy Hornets always flew with the what was called "double ugly", meaning a tank on centerline and a tank on the right wing so the T-Pod would have a better FOV. Standard load out for that period/AOR was; Station 1 - AIM-9X or Empty* Station 2 - GBU-12D/B Station 3 - GBU-38(v)2 Station 4 - ATFLIR Station 5 - Drop Tank Station 6 - Empty Station 7 - Drop Tank Station 8 - AGM-65E Station 9 - AIM-9X or Empty* * Only 1 AIM-9X was carried, either on station 1 or 9, whichever station was easiest to get to when loading. NOTE: The Litening Pod is no cleared for CV Ops. Edited June 10, 2017 by GW8345
