This will be tne next kit:

Although it´s tempting to build one of the original versions OOB, especially that one with the registration D-HAJO, I will do another bird instead - a USMC HH-1N in the rescue markings.

That´s why I already sprayed the whole kit white, since the plastic came in dark green. The first few layers I did with Revell acrylics, which somehow got a yellowish touch. Then I bought a rattlecan of acrylic white at a craftshop - the color was much better, but the paint came out in a way you can´t use it...

I ended up "smoothing" the sprayed color with a normal brush.

Currently I´m still working to paint the smaller details.

I'm presently using the same kit to build this one:

http://www.fau.mil.uy/old/bell212.html

It was the best pic of the tank I could find and just scratch built a box to fit and left out the seat and took off the small ledge that the seat sits on and filled the floor hole....HTH

Cheers

Bruce

Thank you! I replicated something similar with plastic card and kleenex-paper to give it some structure:

Then it went into the cockpit, that looked like this then:

And the winch on the starport-side, scratchbuilt. It´s far from beeing accurate, but looks the deal...:

And my two rescue divers, converted from a set of german Air Force ground figures by Roco:

I did exactly the same some years ago here on this HH-60H:

Attached the front windshield and already painted some of my mixed orange. I used Revells gloss orange 30, darkened with some Revell 330 fiery red. I´d say in relation 3:1.

Then the roof and doghouse were added, along with some other small parts:

I´m working on the belly at the moment, having pre-painted it so I can glue on the skids without having to care for painting later on.

The painted belly, still without skids:

All necessary parts assembled, ready for further painting!

Used some tape...:

And the result!

Decals next.

Done!

I really like how the Huey looks, the bright colors look really good on it!

But you can see why the nose of the Italeri/Revell-kit is critizised very often: On the original helicopter, the anti-glare black running along the lower windows would ended up in the middle of the nose (vertically). On the model it´s still a bit below that line:

Of course the side with the open door is the "action"-side:

The swimmer is preparing himself for the jump, while the crew engineer gives him some final instructions and a pad on the shoulder:

Starting the flight somewhere in the middle of nowhere:

And doing SAR for an aircraft carrier:
