avgass
Does anybody know what colour the belly tank on these NSAWC F-16's are? They look gunship grey or even darker but I have not been able to find a definitive answer. Also, what's the gold colour under the paint - discoloured metal or are they painted gold before being overcoated in the dark grey?
CF104
Can't help you with the grey but the gold color is a surface treatment on the aluminum tank. It's called alodine and can leave varying degrees of intensity from very light to almost tan. You can do a Google image search for "alodine aluminum" and you will see the effect of alodine on aluminum. Cheers, John

Niels
It is FS36118, same as upper fuselage on standard coated F-16's. As these are ex-embargoed Pakistani Vipers, they originally carried the Pakistani color scheme, so also the tanks. When the fighters were repainted into adversary color schemes they didn't bother to repaint all the tanks.
