Finn
Came across this: http://www.navysite.de/cruisebooks/cv64-73/217.htm showing a camera pod on a VA-165 Intruder, looks like it's mounted to a TER/MER, was it a common type that could be mounted to other carrier a/c like an A-7? GW8345
That is a LB-31A Camera pod and yes, it is mounted on a MER. It was commonly carried by the A-7 (On station 3) but could be carried by other USN/USMC aircraft. The pod had 14 inch suspension and carried two cameras (one downward facing and one forward facing at a downward angle).
Finn
Thanks for the info. I had read here: https://www.vietnam.ttu.edu/reports/images.php?img=/images/1201/1201091040.pdf para 13 Special Operations, of testing of a camera pod on an A-6, it says they got it from a P-2 and faced rearward. I wonder if the LB-31A was the end result? Jari
