Bobo1953
hi everybody. today is june 6: the D-Day anniversary. this recurrence is to me as a sort of the american memorial day. it is the day when history changed forever, and when the determination and courage of the allies began sweeping away nazifascism from europe. perhaps too much time has passed, and the better day that was dawning that morning, perhaps is by now in its twilight. nevertheless, and all today's miseries notwithstanding, that day was a great day, and i hope that its spirit is still inspiring for those who are still able to remember it. honor to the fallen from all sides. ciao. bobo. tosouthern66
To all the fallen and survivors on that day, I thank you and you have my deepest respect. For it wasn't for your sacrifices we would not be free. We would be under a Nazi controlled leadership and there would be even more racism and atrocities that there is today. I salute you all! Gordon Shumway
...- ...- ...- D-Day, the Invasion of Normandy was a pivotal event of the 2nd World War an event we should not forget. I have had the privilege of being to the Normandy beaches and some of the cemeteries, all very moving for me.

breadneck
June 6th is always a big day for WWII buffs. Since being a kid i`ve had a book on the Overlord campaign and would sign the book every june 6th with the date & year. Me & my modeling friend recently watched Saving Private Ryan together as a prelude to june 6th. He had built up a Tamiya Beaufighter and had applied the B&W stripes....over a BOB brown/green camo scheme. Very difficult to look at for someone interested in somewhat accurate historical camo schemes. I was unable to comment on it but i can tell you it didn`t sit right with me. Poor simpleminded feller seemed to enjoy his newly found bird sitting on his shelf. Thankfully he`s not very worried about all the dust settling on all his kit, lol.
