Super Hornet shoots down Syrian SU-22

Recommended Posts

CVN-77, CVW-8, VFA-31? Assuming article is correct about a single seater, BUSH is the one out with -8 (AJ) onboard, and Tomcatters is the single seat squadron... I could be horribly wrong as well...

Syrian aircraft don't have a whole lot of luck against the US Navy!

VFA-31, VFA-37 and VFA-87 are the only single seat Hornet squadrons aboard the USS Bush at the moment. Unless 87 transitioned the E without anyone knowing, the shooter was from VFA-31. 'Felix Rules' does in fact apply in this case.

Not only that, but it seems the Su-22 specifically is the typical first-time course for each new USN fighter type!

Actually, I was thinking of Libya when I mentioned the bad luck against the US Navy. Not quite sure how I managed to confuse Syria with Libya, but I am going to blame El Nino.

RAF - zero air-to-air kills since 1949.

RAAF - ditto since 1951.
