Joe Hegedus
No, it is not a Texan. The T-6 had a 2-blade prop and was not as large as the airplane in the photo. The wings would not be visible on a T-6 if that many people were standing in front of it, you'd just be seeng the top half of the engine cowl. There also isn't an inlet on top of the cowl on the T-6. I can't say for certain, but the airplane in the first picture may be an O-47.
habu2
It's quite possible there is a Texan in the first photo. It's also quite possible there are New Yorkers, Floridians and possibly even Californians as well...
southwestforests
This might be useful documentation, "WEAPON SYSTEMS Mission Aircraft" http://usafunithistory.com/PDF/0100/101-124/119 FIGHTER SQ.pdf This might be interesting trivia http://www.nj.gov/military/museum/narratives/119th_FS.html
dnl42
Here's an interesting photo of Newark Airport; note the aircraft to the left of the hangar. While the caption claims June 1940, the photo URL claims 1941.
Alternative 4
I second an O-47.

That makes a lot of sense since the 119th was an Observation Squadron back in 1940. After looking at )-47 photos I think you are 100% correct on that.
