Hello all!

So, I finished one today. Nice kit from Academy 1:48. Added some resin stuff like Eduard burners and wheels. Also I used Eduard PE. I modified two Hasegawa Pilots to sit in there.

Markings from Academy box (muuch tooo big, I would say closer 1:32 for most stencils), from Furball sheet (only PMTC) and rest painted and/or used decals from generic sheet to create the Numbers and NAVY etc.

Representing a PMTC bird used in Missile testing. At that time not a drone. YES: I know I f*cked up the PMTC logo... was too late to repair...

Same BNo 155563 is today in Valiant Air Command Museum near Orlando in Florida. But in new different colours (VF-114). I "restored" mine back to its initial colors.

I added one pic of the original bird, source unknown.

The current display should show the area of time where tests were done to fire AIM-7 Sparrow front missile with the centre line tank remaining in place (swap from liquid to solid state motors in the missile). I had not a lot of info available, but I guess I am close with how that might have looked.

Finally the reason I built it: Valiant Air Museum was kind enough to give me a "piece of a Warbird" to carry home during my visit. The aluminium panel is now highly polished hanging over my TV in the living room. So I built the plane "around" it. You might spot which part I got from them from this plane, which had to be replaced on the museum F-4 due to "corrosion" before the fresh painting came on. I left "the part" in aluminium on the model as well, to show which panel is hanging on my wall. Mainly for visitors asking where this comes from. Of course all ideas from my wife :) ;)

I did appreciate this build, maybe also because I was building something I basically have @ home. The Academy kit is highly recommended, I love it. Not the easiest one if you want to get a show piece (intakes, front, aft fitting of fuselage), but definitely a masterpiece in today's kit world.

This was my first F-4 build. Like that plane! I hope you like my build.
