Looks like she was flying as recently as August last year as N433NA: https://www.nasa.gov/press-release/motor-burn-scheduled-for-august-26-at-wallops Here's Iron Horse in 2013: Comment under video: "...UH-1 Huey from NASA, owned by the same guys that run the YL-37 Sikorsky organization." As for the WSMR bird (74-22478); *think* that photo was taken at/around her retirement, and assume N670SP to be her reg under new owner, Louisiana State Police. Would love to see some images of her earlier life, testing at Bell. robert61267
You guys are awesome. Great info on these NASA birds. There's something about a NASA Huey gunship of sorts that just screams, BUILD ME!
robert61267
That White Sands ex-NASA bird looks outstanding. I would love to build that guy too. Maybe a decal sheet for gov't agency and law enforcement? Just an idea. https://www.jetphotos.com/photo/8561874

jabow
Bell's Huey II Program!! Geesh lots of configurations to the point you need photo of bird ur building to know how to configure it. Looking externally, originally you'd need 212 nose, tailboom, main and tail rotors. Turned into a 'pick-and-choose' configuration bird. It was designed to make MONEY for Bell and save big bucks for those that already had Hueys in their fleet. Weight carried was real close to what the then Blackhawk was for alot less money. That program was still going when I retired some 10 yrs ago as Model 210. Bo
robert61267
It looks like a few don't have the pointy 212 nose. They seem to have retained the older bulbous nose. http://www.bellhelicopter.com/commercial/bell-huey-ii Scroll down to the gallery. Two or three seem to have the original nose, if I'm seeing things correctly. Bob

IIRC, that was an expensive modification so some elected NOT to have the new nose, Again, IIRC, the Italeri Huey has the Main Rotor of a 212 and not one for a UH-1H. Don't recall if the tail rotor is a 212 or not in their kit??? And, I think the tailboom has baggage compartment of the 212 or Commercial 205A-1. UH-1s did NOT have baggage compartments!!
