Just re-attacking this subject again. New year….new ask.

Unique S-3 markings (A or B) will always be welcome.

Going back to USN Invaders, icm now has a listing for kit 48287, USN JD-1D showing the proper clear nose cap and fairings under the aft crew station for the target banner.  More markings maybe?

Any chance of a reprint of your Lakenheath 493d Grim Reapers sheet in 1/48,think there maybe some demand for their decals this year as they go out of the Eagle business in May 2022 and start the transition the the F-35 along with the newly reactivated 495th Valkyries

Theres also 86-0172 with its new tail markings to consider.

I really like the idea of doing the new LN scheme as an add-on to a reprint of the LN F-15 sheet - I was going to reprint the 1/48 sheet anyway and this will provide some additional appeal to it.

I would buy that one even though Ive already got the first print if it has that anniversary scheme.

Since Caracal has a reputation for considering subjects that no one else would ever look at (i.e. Do-228, Learjet), how about a sheet on the C-23A/ Short 330? There is an 1/144 eastern express kit and there used to be a 1/72 scale resin kit (although not really available now).

The kit and aftermarket currently only offer civilian liveries, but the type did see service with the USAF and Army, especially in Europe, in the 1980s. Below a selection of the different schemes seen over time.

Kursad,

You have a wonderful history of releasing sheets in one scale (1/48 or 1/72) and then reducing them down to a smaller scale (1/72 or 1/144) and sometimes scaling them up to 1/32 scale.  Have you considered scaling one of the 1/144 sheets up to 1/72 scale, such as the C-97 sheet?  There is such a paucity of sheets available for the C-97/KC-97, three by my count, and the Airways Graphics sheet is long OOP.

The Draw Decals sheet is print on demand and the availability of the Isradecal sheets is sporadic, though not as acute as the AG sheet.  Would you consider scaling CD144013 C-97/KC-97 sheet up to 1/72 scale?

Kind regards,

Dutch

I find myself needing 1/48 (and 1/72 for that matter) F-15A decals for Luke AFB squadrons and can't seem to find any. I'd snag a couple sets for future use were they available. It would seem an awful LOT of decal sets are out of stock with Caracal and it begs the question, do they restock? That's an awful lot of decal sets that are not available on their site.

Sorry, neither the Kahu nor the Dutch F-16s are very likely the combination of global pandemic and new VAT regulations of both the UK and EU have caused a marked drop in the sales of my international subjects, and a detailed analysis of my sales clearly reveals that my USAF/USN subjects far outsell everything else I do. For the foreseeable future, Caracal will concentrate on US subjects; with perhaps a few select international subjects a year.

Thats a great shame.
The taxation rules the UK and EU made seem to have killed of a lot of transatlantic sales.

Do you not ship to the UK at all now KursadA? I looked at your site and it allows me to select the UK as a shipping destination.
Is it not possible to ship here at all without declaration?

How about a sheet featuring F-35B BF-01 in 1/72?

I cannot find anything with this subject anywhere

I like that!  With 1/72 kits of the F-35A and B out (ignoring the Orange F-35C kit for the moment), how about "F-35A & B - The Early Years" and have AF-01 and BF-01 included?

Nearly all the "regulars" know not to place an order anymore - once in a while a newbie would place an order and I tell them I will send the order at their own risk, declared as a brochure. Which is technically correct (the brochure comes with a free gift of decals), so I don't think I am lying to Her Majesty.

Hannants stocks everything I have available, so I don't think there is any difficulty getting my products in the UK. My regular customers ordered directly from me mostly to support my work.

Ill be completely honest with you on this KursadA.
Normally I am quite a fervent supporter of import taxes, sales taxes etc etc in my country. However in this case I think my government has handled the situation so badly and with such an iron hand that it has no hope of any success at all.

Their position is that tax is collected at the point of sale not the point of import.

Which sounds great if every country in the world does that, but almost none of them do and for good reason.

I cant wait for China to do the same. You cant buy or sell from China without giving them all your businesses details...

Good luck to you KursadA is what I say. All that will happen is it will get held in our customs until the duties are paid (and the admin fee which usually turn a £3 fee into a £13 fee)

I'm not into the details either, but I think that the UK have overdone it a bit with their import tax regulations. The EU are closely behind, but still manageable. I'm not sure about other EU countries, but Germany, where I am, does now collect import tax for everything that enters the country. I order a fair bit of stuff from Japan, so I consider myself somewhat seasoned.

In the past (i.e. before July 2021) it could happen that some shipments slipped by under the radar. Other times (rather often, actually) one had to pick up parcels at one's local customs office, providing proof of payment. And there were of course instances when shipments were taxed at the point of entry, and the taxes collected by the delivery person at one's front door.

Since July 2021, everything is taxed at the point of entry, based on the value stated on the outside of the parcel. There is no threshold anymore below which no taxes are collected, so "undervalue-ing" a parcel does not help to entirely avoid taxes. It does however indeed help to pay lower taxes than might be due if the full value was declared.

I recently bought six sets of Caracal decals with a combined value of nearly US$ 100. I'm not going to give away which exact value was declared on the shipping label, but I am saying that I was very pleasantly surprised by it. I did of course still have to pay import taxes plus a fixed fee, but it could have been much worse. I enourage everybody from the EU to order directly from Kursad, you won't be disappointed.

On another note, I heard in the news today that Germany is going to purchase the F-35 too. So, in spite of everything, Kursad might consider to include German markings on a future F-35 sheet 😄

Leaving aside the politics of import taxes I'd like to float a couple of suggestions in 1/48

EA-3B Skywarrior decals for VQ-1 &2 as there aren't any aftermarket for the Trumpeter kit.

E-2C Hawkeye decals for VAW-127 Seabats and VAW-110 for the Kinetic kit.

A-7E Corsair II decals for VA-22 & 94 on the 1972 USS Coral Sea cruise during which they participated in the mining of Haiphong harbour.

Just saw your post about a second F-35 sheet and it got me thinking - have you considered doing “F-35 - The Early Years” ?  I don’t think anyone has accurately covered AA-1, AF-1, BF-1, CF-1. These jets are well documented. The sheet could also include markings for the two JSF jets, the X-35A/B and X-35C.

The sheet might be perfect for 1/48. AF-01 and 02 in 1/72 are included as Hasegawa 02107, which is still widely available.

Seeing as a good 1/72 F-35C is yet to come out, it might be best to be prepared in 72 and 48 as well.

But I agree. The aircraft that are musts are:

301 - X-35A/B

300 - X-35C

AA-1 - F-35A Prototype, Lockheed Martin

AF-01 - F-35A - 461st FLTS

AF-03 - F-35A - 461st FLTS

AF-07 - F-35A - 07-0745 - 461st FLTS

BF-01 - F-35B Prototype - VX-23

BF-04 - F-35B - VX-23

CF-01 - F-35C Prototype - VX-23

CF-02 - F-35C - VX-23

CF-06 - F-35C - 168733/XE100 - VX-9

CF-07 - F-35C - 168734/XE101 - VX-9
