That Hornet is very cool. I believe decals were made before, but it would be a nice addition to any future legacy Hornet sheet. But what else to put on the sheet? I could definitely dust off the Medal of Honor F-18B markings that I have done a few years back - but would need a few more interesting legacy Hornets for a complete sheet.

Fightertown had it on their sheet 48058, along with two Centennial Hornets from VFC-12 and New Orleans, the VX-4/VX-9 Vandy 1 F-14A &D, a Super Hornet, and a throwback China Lake A-4E. I have wanted that sheet for a long long long time, but it is made of unobtanium nowadays.

I never assigned a product number or a release date for these - there are other 1/72 sheets I have to release before these. I also have some doubts on the viability of two 1/72 helicopter sheets so I will need to think about combining parts of these two sets to release one sheet only.

Conversely, I'd have expected the two separate 1/48 versions to have been the 'riskier' prospect, given that there's effectively only ever been the one (Revell) kit of the twin-engine H-53 - whereas in 1/72 there have been and are three different base kits issued as various versions, from Airfix (also MPC); Fujimi (also Testors and now Academy); Italeri and Revell (also Bilek)...

....that said, of course, it does mean there have been more decals options available both in the kits themselves, and from a handful of decal manufacturers...

....the burning question is, if you do decide to combine and do just the one sheet, of the 24 1/48 options, which 12 will make it down to 1/72? 🤔

How about a sheet for the Bayraktar TB2 UCAV?

I recently got my hands on Caracal‘s MQ-9 Reaper UAV sheet and figured with Clear Prop (and a bunch of other companies) releasing the Bayraktar TB2 in all three major scales but usually with only Ukrainian Air Force (in case of Clear Prop) markings - or often without any decals at all - it would be cool to have a sheet dedicated to this hugely relevant type.

See here for a up-to-date list of operators: https://www.oryxspioenkop.com/2021/09/an-international-export-success-global.html

Below a bit of inspiration from different countries (such as Quatar, Djibouti, Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan) including some unique markings for Ukrainian Navy and Turkish AF. Also used in anger by Azerbaijan in 2020 Karabakh War.

Stencils in Turkish and English would also be useful, so far only Ukrainian stencils are available

And one more oldie, but a goodie! This is an F-89D, serial unknown.  All three squadrons were assigned to the 64th Air Defense Division from 1954-56NEAC stands for North East Air Command. The 59th FIS was stationed at Goose AB, Labrador, the 61st FIS at Ernest Harmon AB, Newfoundland, and the 74th FIS at Presque Isle AFB, Maine. This could be the 64th Air Defense Division Commander's aircraft, but more likely one of the NEAC team aircraft at a pre-William Tell USAF Air-to-Air Rocketry Competition circa 54-56 at Yuma AFB.  My best guess at crew names are: LT G. F. Kelley, LT W. J. George, & C/C J. A. McClure.  The yellow letters on pale blue background above the squadron tabs are most likely "64th ADD" for 64th Air Defense Division  Notice the "No STEP" warning above the pitot tube just above the engine intake.  I wonder how many times that gets stepped on!  Enjoy. I just found the YouTube video from which this still was taken.  Very interesting to see the technology advance from WWI to WWII to the 1950s to today (i.e. shooting down balloons with 5th gen fighters launching AIM-9X missiles).  Looking forward to the F-89 sheet in 1/72 scale.

Phantoms on Essex-class carriers might have caused fits with the deck crews since they didn't have regular operations on them. Not impossible, of course. They did carry heavier aircraft (Skywarriors), but the Essex-class CVAs were usually equipped with F-8s, A-1s and A-4s. I think only one or two of the old ships got A-7s before decommissioning.

Alcon,

I only said Mach2 because it is the latest kit and still readily available, which is one of Kursad's criterion for releasing a decal sheet.  I  do realize that the Rareplane kit is a fine kit shapewise, but the metal props and undercarriage are very hard to locate these days. RVHP is also very good quality-wise but expensive. I did not know about the AModel kit. On another forum/thread there was talk (by Vince Maddux, perhaps?) of drafting a 3-D printed C200/C-12 King Air in 1/48 scale.  So the field is wide open.

Mike, if you do a web search for NASA and C-12, several photos should appear.

* PS [ After a little bit of research, I have found that the AModel kit is of the Beechcraft 1900C/D airliner series, six kits being released with various decals, including a C-12J.  While the wings and engines may be used, the fuselage is all wrong for a B200 / C-12 military version.  RVHP offers both the C-90 and B200 King Air versions.]

So after a little more research, new kit releases and just plain stumbling onto an unknown (at least to myself) kit manufacturer, I have made the following discovery WRT 1/72 Beechcraft C-12 /King Air 200/350 models.  RVHP (CZ) has indeed released both King Air 200 & 350 models.  Also, A&A Models (UA) has now released the King Air 200 & 350 series injection molded kits.  However, I stumbled upon a resin kit of a King Air 200 / C-12B by Model Aire International (HK). As the price was comparable to a RVHP kit, I ordered it from a secondhand reseller in the US.  I will appraise you of its quality when it arrives.

All this to say that I would love to see NASA and USMC hi-viz UC-12B/F decals for it.

I have the 1/72 scale Model Aire International resin kit and it looks great in the box. I also have the 1/72 scale RVHP kit and it has decals for one in light gray with the white/dark gray cheat line and national insignia!
