Paul Boyer
Wish I had a decal sheet when I built this 1/72 scale kitbash model six years ago! Edited June 4 by Paul Boyer
aircal62
Paul that build has always been a favorite of mine. Those three VC-137 sure wore a lot of color schemes. However your build is just amazing
AD-4N
I’d love Caracal 1/144 decals for the short tail delivery VC-135A for my X-Scale kit.
CraigSargent
Posted on the A-4M thread already, but 1/48 A-4Ms Part 2? Would love to see VMAT-203 represented, which has never been covered by anyone in any scale.
Corey
I’m all for another A-4M sheet, but while we are talking Skyhawks, how about an early model sheet? The VMA-131 Mikes have been done, but how about an E model or a C model? Edited June 15 by Corey
The Arrowhead
And how about an « early years » Skyhawk sheet? Cat4 in particular have issued a series of 1/48 mods that would be instrumental in covering the XA4D-1, early experimental A4D-1/2s from NATC/China Lake or the first operational A-4As with the flush rudder. If you're thinking of the CAT4 Ejection seat, they got it wrong. They based the seat on a pictured of an A4D-1 that had a different headbox than the later ESCAPAC seats. The problem was the lower part of the seat was not even close to the EXCAPAC seat. The only way you can get an accurate NAMC seat is to take the CAT4 Lowe Level Escape seat, AKA the "F-8 Crusader Vought Seat Early", and the CAT4 ESCAPAC 1A seat and mix and match the parts. The Crusader seat below the headbox is the correct shape for the NAMC seat, and the headbox off the "ESCAPAC 1A" seat. the major differences on the NAMC seat is the headbox area, and the lower seat does not extend beyond the forward face of the seat bucket. A4D-1 NAMC seat to the left, Vought Low level Seat middle, and the CAT4 "ESCAPAC 1A" seat. The image CAT4 used to design their "ESCAPAC 1A" seat Seat white above the canopy rail, LT Gray head pad. Face curtain loop, Dk Grey. Cool markings but I have never been able to find the BuNo Seat close up, Md Gray frame and head pad. FAce curtain loop, Dk grey. High viz and Nat Al. White seat frame above canopy rail, with a Green headrest pad, similar to FS 34108. Face curtain yellow. A4D-1/A-4A 142179E Seat frame a Md Gray, pad likely Green. International Orange FS 22246 A-4A 142144 VA-126 Seat appears to be white above canopy frame, and a md Green head pad, Dk Gray face loop. 137816 No 5 A4D-1 with Douglas Flight Test logo on the nose. China Lake bird, A4D-2 BuNo 142892 with a test "shape" for the Mk-116 Weteye Chemical weapon. Most of the above shots are from the national Naval Aviation Musuem archives that I have. Bo105flyer
Any thought to doing a sheet for the soon to be released Academy 1/144 B-2A Spirit? How about for the 1/72 scale kits out there? I know Two Bobs did one with all 21 aircraft tail numbers and names but it is OOP now. A new sheet for both would be nice, any chance of that? I am looking for "Spirit of Louisiana" as I have a lapel pin with that aircraft name on it that was given to me by a Northop tech rep at an airshow at Barksdale AFB years ago. BWDenver
Mi-17, “Agency operated”, Udairi Kuwait. When I was deployed to OIF we ended up at a desert airbase near the Kuwait/Iraq border. The base was located at a high point in the desert, and was likely the worst place to put an airstrip as the winds out of Iraq seemed to center on us. Aside form the Army birds, there was one Mi-17 operated by an unidentified “Agency”, probably a three letter agency… In any event the bird was overall sand and almost devoid of markings. It had an American flag on the engine pods, USA in block letters on the tailboom and a Roman numeral III or IV. Not sure if it was a second bird that replaced III or they just renumbered it. The bird initially flew by itself, early in the war, and US forces kept firing on it, so they eventually put a CH-47D with it as an escort. Would not take up that much space on a sheet.... - Bryan
KursadA
This will definitely be on the Mi-8/17 sheet in the works, along with markings for the Op. Jawbreaker Hip that was the first one in Afghanistan.
BWDenver
Super glad to hear it. Bryan
BWDenver
If you ever want to do a civil sheet, I have a number of shots of DHC-2 Float Beavers taken in Vancouver CA and Ketchikan AK. The markings include Harbor Air, SeaWind Aviation, Taquan, Saltspring Air, Seair Seaplanes and Gulf Island Seaplanes. A lot of the birds have the web site name on the inner side of the wing struts. And of course, a number of DHC-3T otters, with a turbo conversion available for the Turbo Otter Vazar nose conversion from Kee-Kha. A number of the shots are profile that can be used for art work. - Bryan - Bryan

Just a curious question: What use did it to fly the Mi-17 when there was a CH-47 with it anyway? HAJO
BWDenver
Ever hear the phrase: "It seemed like a good idea at the time..." The Mi-17 was flown by a crew of civilian or contractors. We were never privy as to what they were doing, the Chinooks were there to make the point not to shoot at it. Somewhere in a locked cabinet near Langley VA are the details ow what they did. While I've been to the Agency on a project, that place is the epitome of compartmentalization. And they have a really great gift shop!
KursadA
A Skyhawk "Early Years" sheet is also a great idea.
