KursadA
Let's move on, guys - I guess he has a point (of sorts), while the delivery could have been a bit better. Note that these days I try not to announce future projects that I don't think I can deliver in a couple of months or so. As several of you have stated, there is a ton of things that could derail a research project; especially if it is a historic subject and you can't simply ask someone to take walkaround photos for you... I could have easily designed 10 F-16 sheets in the time it took me to do the B-47 or early B-52 sheets, for example. I intend to do almost all of the decals I promised to do, with the exception of a couple of Russian subjects that I completely lost the desire for; for obvious reasons. aircal62
The great thing is that there is always something interesting to do in decals. Caracal has done some things that no other manufacture does, and that is taking risk on subjects that have been commercially avoided. This is especially so since Micro/Superscale stopped doing anything. Micro/Superscale had an advantage of doing their own printing so you would see them take some risk every so often. In today's market where outsourcing printing is a must, few companies would have produced the variety of subjects like the F-89, F-94, etc. Then to go into 1/144 scale which has before been a no go area for most and make several of those sheets successful. By the way you know that with the ANG F-86A's that Jennings has abandoned his Arizona F-86 sheet, yet Caracal keeps going with new and some very interesting subjects. Corey
Speaking F-86’s, how about some Maryland E’s for the upcoming Clearprop E kits?
Hajo L.
23 hours ago, Niels said: Let's be honest, there is a grading for the various scales, and 1/48 is by far the most popular! Which follows next, 1/32 or 1/72 I cannot say, but I know that there are other manufacturers who expressly avoid 1/72 as there is no economy in it. It simply doesn't sell well enough, while 1/48 excell in sales. Are you sure about that 1/48 to other scales ratio? I just had a quick check on scalemates.com. I "searched" in the kits-section, simply using an asterisk (*). You can then refine your "search", and the number of hits in various factors is shown: 1/72: 126.707 hits for "kits" 1/35: 86984 1/48: 84335 1/43: 50608 1/24: 39496 none: 34664 1/32: 33599 1/144: 32399 Of course this includes decals, aftermarket stuff, etc. But I think it's quite a telling number. 😉 HAJO
eraucubsfan
All- let's keep this thread dedicated to requests for Caracal decals. Anything else further not related to the request for decals, and we will shut down the thread.
Corey
How about a Jersey Guard F-86E for the upcoming Clearprop kit?
Sabrejet
A series of NJ ANG F-86Es might be nice (Clear Prop's next issue should be vee-screen F-86E-1/5s by the way); does anyone know the identity of Waltzing Matilda? It has the added interest of an OD anti-dazzle panel.

I have an idea for you - Bears in the US. A sheet of Russian aircraft in US service. I bought 48228 because I kinda wanted to do a MiG-23, but I didn't want to do it in Russian markings (this was before the invasion). Russian OpFor with Hind, MiG-21s, MiG-15s, YAK-23, etc.... Spruemeister
These F-86 subjects are great! Rick L. Edited October 3, 2025 by Spruemeister
Corey
Interestingly, I found more photos that must have been from the same series as my slide from Ron Picciani. He must have been the original photographer. https://piccianiaircraftphotos.com/f-86e_sabre Also found an airplane from the 108th FG, sister unit to the 119th with the red lightning bolts
BWDenver
I'm not normally an airliner guy, but here are a few that others might find interesting. Shot these on Ki Olina HI this morning. thegoodsgt
How about a sheet titled, F-100 in Air National Guard Service?
Jetdog
I second the F-100 in ANG service! Ohio flew 4 (yes 4!) squadrons of F-100s, from Toledo (green and white checkered tail stripe), Mansfield (yellow with white Ohio script), Columbus (Blue with white Ohio Script) and Springfield (red with white Ohio script).
Corey
All four of those squadrons also flew F-84F’s, which would also make for a super cool sheet. But yes, another Guard F-100 sheet would be great!
Jetdog
All four OH ANG squadrons did fly the F-84F's in some some beautiful natural metal jets! Toledo used black trim rather then green at that time, but the other three units were trimmed in yellow, red or blue. The Columbus based 166 TFS is pictured here- The 164th, 162 and 166 TFS also flew F-84E's...... yet another potential sheet!

riffraff
I would love to see this DF-8 from Pima on your next Crusader sheet.
Bulldog 09
I don't know if this has been suggested, but a sheet with A/B-26 Invaders and A/B-26K Counter Invaders would be nice to see in 1/72. Heck even in 1/48. Just my two cents. Dave Fassett

And then release it in 72nd scale too. I have an Italeri B-26K that needs good marking badly. A sheet of A and B-26's from WWII and the Korean war would be a welcome addition too. Again just my two cents. Dave Fassett
eraucubsfan
Might be a little out there or niche, but this Convair 880 first served with the FAA, then was modified by the US NAVY as a tanker and served at PAX River for many years.
