Mirage III CJ Heyl Ha'Avir - Eduard 1/48 - finally done!

Recommended Posts

Good night to all!

here the last birth directly from my workbench... an israeli Mirage III CJ!

Base kit is the Eduard, but I used the resin set for cockpit and wheel bays from SBM. Other details are from Eduard photoetched set, pitot from Master.

For the natural metal finish I used the Aclad Lacquers and Mr.Paint semi gloss for the final coat. The decals are a mix from the kit and Isradecal set.

Hope you'll enjoy. Cheers from Rome, Italy! :bye:

Crysis,

As you stated, this is the "Critique Corner" and constructive feedback is allowed.  As stated from the forum header:

"Post pics of your models here and get polite, constructive feedback on how you can improve your future models. Comments are only in response to pics posted by the builder of that model in this forum."

However, in reading your first post, I didn't find it to be constructive or polite.  You did not provide any information on how the builder could improve the model but simply insulted him.  The delivery is just as important as the message.

Good job on a less than easy kit!

Capturing the gloss that the Mirage IIICJ's had is difficult in 1/48 because truly glossy paint would be overpowering. It's hard to get "gloss in scale" like that.

Did you flat coat from a spray can or mix it through the airbrush?

Thanks Jonathan!

I used the semi gloss lacquer by Mr.Paint... i like the coat that it leave on the natural metal finish.

Nice model ..... too clean looking at the picture .... the red and white lines in the tail are wrong in the dimensions ... initially I did not seem elegant to point out, considering the commitment that the modeler deep, but this is always the corner of the critic ...... Hello, the next one will be better!

Thank you for your answer Enrico! I'm not a "Facebook modeler", so I'm content to accept your critique. Maybe the next one will be a Tsniut Mirage, like the model you made some years ago:

But I'll change the color of the rudder because, in my opinion, the white is wrong. It is so strange... our Mirage III always has problems with the rudder!!

Cheers! Valerio.

Thank you for posting the pics... the gallery I linked is incomplete due to the Photobucket problems! so, now also other users can recognize what we are talking about!

I have the book that you've flagged, and I've read it many times. I think you're being misled from a sunshine reflection that impact on the rudder (in the picture, in that moment, was turned to the left).

Pay attention to this detail the next time... but dont' worry! nobody's perfect. ;)

The pics below show the same image that is printed in the book (instead, this is the Isradecal instructions sheet):

IsraDecal_IAF-71_Instructions4.jpg

Looking at the rudder... in the upper section you can see the green of the camo. Furthermore, looking at the sun reflection... under the rudder hydraulic actuator is clearly visibile the shadow. I would confirm what I wrote previously Enrico: the rudder isn't white, you get wrong.
