Does anybody know about A Model from russia?

All the plastic I have and have seen of the older kits I would consider limited run quality, no locating tabs, lots of flash, glass is thick and not clear. Not sure about any of the newer kit releases.

Here is one review of a newer kit release 2014.

The one thing I know about 'A Model' from Russia is that no-one ever gets the name right. :woot.gif:

It is simply 'Amodel' - capital 'A' lower case 'model' - no capital M, no spaces, no hyphens etc etc.

Oh - and they are Ukrainian, not Russian - apart from that it's mostly correct.

Sorry - I don't mean to sound sarcastic............

As for their helos - I've built a few......

Kamov co-axials :- http://www.flankers-site.co.uk/modl_kamovs.html

Mil V-12 'Homer' :- http://www.flankers-site.co.uk/modl_v-12.html

Mil Mi-10 'Harke' :- http://www.flankers-site.co.uk/modl_mi-10.html

.... as well as loads of their aircraft kits.

They are limited run - with flash, no locating pins and large sprue gates and they require some work to get a decent finish.

Don't let that put you off - they just need old fashioned modelling skills - and they get better with each new release.

Hope this helps

You know Ken,

You did a great job on those. Maybe I should try and test my skills on some after all. you obviously have a lot more than me but for the price maybe I should be open to them. At least I wouldn't be too upset if i mess up.

Thanks Again

Thanks for responding. i wondered about the price relating to quality.

I think I may look elsewhere for Russian helicopter models

So that's your second problem, I think for the most part they are the only dance partner you have. Just drink a little more and turn the lights down lower and things will be mostly fine. The kits can be found elsewhere for cheaper, you just have to look and be patient. Don't discount ordering from oversees.

:cheers:So Tank,

since you brought that up can you get me up to speed on ordering overseas as far as shipping costs relating to US cost and who should I be looking at as far as good reputations. I have seen this before years ago but I am only now starting to get serious about modeling and that could be a useful method for me

Thanks

I've built one Amodel kit, the HU-16 Albatross in my current sig line. I'm building a CL-415 now, and have their Lancaster and An-2 in the stash. All 1/144. Flankerman's description is spot on. They have great subjects. You can order them from ModelsUA

I don't have any that comes to mind but I have ordered from Jpn, England, Ru and Au. No issues, I do use PayPal for most online orders in general. Some times the price plus shipping is cheaper then getting it here, the middle man markups can be killer. A lot depends on the kit/order. What kits (I know Amodel) are you looking for? Might be some folks here looking to sell from their own stash.

Amodel have a planned release of the Cessna YH-41 Seneca in 1/72. Not the prettiest helicopter but an interesting machine. Good to see it being released in plastic.
