Aigore
Still waiting for stuff...but still feeling the urge to build. SO I put the wings together...lucky I got plenty of clamps :P with the wings glued I started pondering on what to do next...well when in doubt detail the poop out of something that noone will ever even glance at :P Added wire to the wheel bay door actuators.. Found some locking hooks in the spare box.. I felt the angle of the doors was off so I bent them a bit :D Well if I´m doing thst syuff I might as well throw in some pipes into the door as well. Here my eyes started to hurt :P There´s more wires to go in there but I´m resting my eyes for a bit now :P Cheers!

Aigore
Engines... What do you know, seems the Hypersonic model exhaust had arrived! and a fin tip :P Cut the pieces from the casting blocks and cleaned them.... Painted them in Alclad steel on the inside....no details....nothing will really be seen in them. Specially not the gorgeous PE flameholders that will be buried so deep into the fuselage you won´t know thehy are there :P Started putting the drain pipes together... So far so good.... Next you actually have to make them fit in the model!! Cut big holes in the fuselage for sliding them out through the fuselage. I cut away the kit exhausts and sanded the insides of the engine bays insanely thin! Finally a good fit after insane ammounts of dremmeling :P Fit into the fuselage like this...now I need to do the other one! Not half bad....but I´m exhausted! (No pun intended) NOw I just hope my cockpit will arrive soon too :/ Cheers!
Petrov27
Very cool - you jumped ahead of me (I only have one side exhaust done :) ) Note I think you may have the ends stuck out a little too far - check out pic:

JeffreyK
Nice work! Just as a heads-up, the replacement fin tip is designed as a replacement for the wrongly shaped HobbyBoss A-6 fin tip and as such designed to match the HB kit tail in all dimensions. As far as I can see, the shape of the Kinetic fin tip looks basically ok, although I haven't checked it in great detail. What's more, as I don't have the kit at hand, I don't know how the sizes and angles compare with the HB kit. So even if my resin part was an improvement over the Kinetic kit as well, I don't know whether it will actually fit... So please check before you cut . J

J Thanx JeffreyK :D Yeah it's a bit of a gamble, it looked so good and didn't cost much so I thought I give it a try...been busy with the exhausts so I haven't checked yet. No worries I will check befora I start cutting plastic :P 20 minutes ago, Petrov27 said: yeah - I gotta rescribe that line on both sides - with all the messing with the exhaust opening/thinning the line is long gone lol Well...this kit will indeed need all kinds of TLC to be anything close to showroom worthy :P
Aigore
Ah, finally! The reinforcements have arrived! Brassin MERs and Snake eyes... Gorgeous wheels from ResKit, eduard masks and a profimodeller turned brass pitot tube And the Avionix pit, I´m sure I can make it work for this kit too. Well now I´m all set :D Cheers! Petrov27
Ha - fantastic - the aftermarket for the 1/48 intruder is pretty good but wow is it time consuming to get to fit into the plastic! :)

Aigore
A whole lot of dremlin´ As mentioned the Avionix set is for the Revell/Monogram kit so I was prepared for some modding work :P First I dremeled room for the deck behind the seats and that was done in mere seconds :D perhaps a bit of tweaking to be done but the fit is alright. Then I went bonkers with The Dremel and took off loads of plastic and resin from the intakes to make room for the pit. and I took off a fair bit of resin from the bottom of the pit as well. But then after lots of dremlin and fitting I got a pretty decent fit of the Avionix pit. Still lots of tweaking to be made but everything fits roughly.....only thing I miss is side consols, luckily I didn´t take off the little details that were in the kit. I might even add a thing or two :P but that´s all for today! Cheers!
A-10 LOADER
She looks good. For what these resin aftermarket goodies cost, you would think they would fit. It's almost like the resin companies never even looked at the kit they made the sets for. Steve

A-10 LOADER
I'll be it doesn't fit the Revell kit either. The Verlinden set I used on my Revell A-6E was a pain as well. Steve Edited September 15, 2017 by A-10 LOADER

Aigore
A ´pit stop... Now I´ve fiddled a bit with the cockpit resin and tweaked the plastic and I think the fit is good enough...now here´s another little issue. there isn´t any sidepanel so you can see things that you shouldn´t really :P Gotta do something ´bout it! I marked with a sharpie how much should be covered by a panel... MArked the spots on a piece of plasticard... Cut it out and fitted it against the wall... Trimmed it a bit... ANd copied the profile onto plasticard so I could make one for the other side. There...looks neat, eh? Fit the cockpit in place and that looks alright to me :D Next I cleaned all the ´pit resin and staked the parts on toothpicks :D Here are the exquisite Res-kit wheels, really nice details! Well all isn´t hunky-dory... Here is the resin canopy deck and the kit canopy, fun that it´s in two pieces btw :P I will have to cut up the kit canopy to fit to the resin deck....I really wish there was a vacuformed canopy for it, I have searched the webb for one but no go :/ Finished todays session with some black primer ontop of the resin. Cheers!
