breadneck
So how do you do it, before or after gluing the upper and lower halves together? Pro / cons ?!
airmechaja
Painting them before assembly, assures you will have to paint them twice unless you don't care about seams.
breadneck
Considering doing the old Airfix Lancaster "black" kit this way. Not a perfect kit and don`t have much recessed panel lines to worry about.

Don
If I remember correctly, the Airfix Lanc (the older versions) have recessed wing attachment points on the fuselage so that the assembled wing(s) slot into these recesses quite snugly. When I built mine many years ago I assembled the fuselage (including the horizontal stabilizer but not the two vertical stabilizers...they are black so I left them off until the end), assembled both port and starboard wings (including the engines) and painted these assemblies separately. It made masking the camouflage easier. When done I then brought them all together without any seams showing at the wing-to-fuselage attachment points. In fact you don't even need glue as the wings fit quite snug...again, if I remember correctly. HTH. Regards, Don.
