Aussie-Pete
Just bought this. I thought I'd read it was a good model. Blue windows? and th eengines are 2 piece with very little detail. Does anyone do resin for this model? I've tried searching without any luck.
K2Pete
I'm still in the process of building my Tamiya Shuttle and Hotdog's decals are the only aftermarket items I've found. I'll assume the model just isn't that popular for someone to make any money from selling Resin stuff. The model's (supposed) accuracy comes from Shuttle afficionados comparing its profile ... but the engines, the Payload Bay, Landing Gear and Cockpit windows leave a lot to be desired. I guess it's time to brush up on those Scratchbuilding skills! Pete
Hotdog
I plan to (someday!) get another Tamiya shuttle kit and redo the windows. My idea for that involves filling in the entire window area with either styrene or putty, smoothing it all out, and then drilling and sanding out each window frame to shape. Then I'd use pieces of clear styrene sheet for the window glass. As for the engines, you might ask niart17 if he will scale down his 3D-printed 1/72 SSME's to 1/100 scale. Aussie-Pete
I'll just use shirtbox plastic for the windows. I guess the decals will sort of make them more realistic. Have since noticed the engine tubing is seperate. I guess I'll see what they come out like. For the bay flow I though maybe felt would look ok?
Hotdog
The kit engines turn out pretty good, just use some wire to add more accurate tubing to the nozzles.
