picknpluck
Can someone explain what this protrusion is between the main landing gear bays that shows up on the Revell Super Hornet but not the Hasegawa? Here are real-world examples with and without the fairing. Is it something to do with the ECS system? Are the different configurations specific to certain blocks of aircraft? Darren Roberts
I'm going completely off memory, but I believe it has something to do with the towed decoy system. If I recall, it's removable.
Joe Hegedus
That is the ALE-50 towed decoy dispenser. Yes, it is removable, and is fitted to the FA-18E/F. The EA-18G does not use that system.
GW8345
What Joe said, if you are going to leave it, make sure you put the guide on the tail-hook trunnion (that back-wards antenna looking thing). And as a side note, if you put an ARS (Buddy Store) on the centerline, the ALE-50 is not authorized (though it may be left installed, you just can't use it) and the guide must be removed. picknpluck
Thanks guys! I'm doing a VFA-192 CAG bird so I'll skip the buddy store on this one. The blue and gold centerline tank is quite striking!
