jester292
Another entertaining season just kicked off. Hoping for a great season for the Lions! Edited September 10, 2017 by jester292
11bee
They are off to a good start, unlike NE. Losing Edleman pretty much put the nail in the 19-0 coffin. I actually think they are going to have to work hard to just make it to post-season. The only other guy on the team that's close to filling Julian's role is Danny Amendola and he's one hit away from being out for the season as well, especially if they keep using him on punt-return duties. Sucks that thug Elliot manged to get his suspension overturned. Still confident that the Cowboys will end up choking at a critical time. Personally, I'm rooting for Oakland. Darren Roberts
At least for one week, the Chiefs looked pretty good!
Janissary
The Chiefs were good but lost their safety (name?) for the season I think. Barring injuries, AFC will be decided between Pitt, NE and Oakland. Given that AFC West has the best inter-competition, I'm betting Pitt vs NE for the AFC championship. Darren Roberts
Eric Berry. It stinks, because he just came back from having cancer.
coneheadff
Couldn't believe the Bears really improved on both sides of the ball, but it didn't look that bad...still fear this is gonna be a loooooong season. Oh boy, this has become a joke...I'm happy with close losses

adamitri
The Packers/Seahawks game was great until the refs started making BS calls. I am pretty sure we will see part 2 in January...

jester292
Agree. It was good until officials showed up. I expected a little more out of the Colts than what they did in LA. They looked like an unranked college team.

I actually figured that the coach would have been fired at half time like they fired Ted Marchabroda in Baltimore. Maybe one more loss, and he's gone! Bears actually looked fairly good, and a light year better than two years prior. Liked what I saw in the Chiefs. gary
jester292
Well it's been a good run. But if players won't even stand for the national anthem, then NFL is not allowed in my home. Bye NFL.

Don
What, the NFL season has begun? I was a longtime season ticket holder but I gave them up two years ago and haven't been to a game since and have maybe watched six games on TV in those two years (including the Superbowl games). Between inconsistent officiating, flag fest games, lengthy reviews, one seemingly never ending "gate" or scandal after another, prima donna players acting like complete self entitled spoiled little rich brats etc etc etc I had enough. Based on the NFL headlines I saw on ESPN today I haven't missed anything...

Last year Colin kaepernick was just about kicked out of the league for taking a knee, now it's ramped as a civil protest across a good many teams. I'm sure that in the next few weeks it will be the vast majority taking a knee except on the Pat, Giants, and a few other teams. And speaking of the Giants, who would have thought that they'd be 0-3. Of course the Beckham stupidity cost them the game again with his dog peeing display. The Giant ownership really needs to address this ASAP. Joel

Gordon Shumway
16 hours ago, GW8345 said: I'm with you. Bye bye NFL Regarding the NFL/Anthem, flag issue. I hear from many this is a US 1st. Amendment issue in the players 'taking the knee' during the US anthem before games, but let me start by saying the 1st. Amendment protects free speech, expression, association and religion, BUT! not everywhere. Since this is NFL specific but not exclusive, the NFL and its owners CENSOR speech and expression ALL THE TIME! Aka: 1: The NFL forbids players from undo celebration for when a touchdown is scored. Players doing such will result in their team receiving a penalty. 2: The NFL forbids players and staff from wearing or otherwise displaying words, labels or signage of an unauthorized nature, such as for one 'Remember 9-11' being forbidden. 3: The NFL forbids players from displaying the names and/or logos of sports brands they may wear if said brands are not paid sponsors to the NFL. 4: To fans who attend NFL games, if a fan or fans wear a shirt or bring a sign that the NFL and its Stadium partners do not accept, such as a shirt that may have a vulgarity or a bigoted, racist words or description that fan or fans will not be allowed inside stadium. Each point made above is a technical violation of the 1st. Amendment, but nobody is really upset at these? Yet players who refuse to stand at a proper attention before the US flag during the anthem are by many BEING PERSECUTED if called out for doing so and notably recently by President Trump. Simple fact is the US 1st. Amendment is what it is, a part of the greatest man made document ever penned. But in a private space/place it can be curtailed. An NFL game for one is a private space that allows public access. The NFL, owners can and as noted above do curtail, speech and expression, but all Hell breaks loose if people want the NFL to stop the disrespect of the US flag and anthem with their B.S. faux protest of taking the knee. What these players do on their own private property or if they wish to go to a public space such as a park or square is their business. They can take the damn knee then for all I care. I don't care what they may say on their social media as well, even though those platforms are considered private spaces too and are often censored by each platforms ownership/groups. All speech is free speech? Regardless of what is said, nonsense or not! Just a few months ago while testing a case the US Supreme court ruled 8-0 that ALL SPEECH IS FREE SPEECH! But I also understand in this case the USA that the 1st. Amendment does not guarantee freedom of speech or expression everywhere. People just go to a shopping mall and try to get away with disruptive or vulgar speech or expression. Go to you neighbor's house and talk about issues you know that they may not like or speak vulgarities in their home and see what likely happens. Your freedom of speech will likely be curtailed. I know many will be on the wrong side of history by arguing what in the recent case President Trump and IMO a majority of Americans believe in this regard as to the disrespect the players have done with their taking the knee B.S. during the playing of a game's anthem. NFL owners and stadium partners on their own private property if they had cajones would stop this B.S. faux outrage by premadonna players as they are disrespectful to the flag, those who serve, served, fought and died for it and the nation that made them all RICH and PRIVILEGED!!! But if I have to choose between them and my country its an obvious choice. The NFL becoming politicized is poison to everyone. For years we were told these guys were blue collar Americans (especially the Steelers) and not the spoiled babies we had been told. Guess what I learned today? Never been more disappointed in my team. The NFL has been associating itself with mom and apple pie as "America's game" for years now. They don't get to have it both ways. And Gordon is Right, The NFL is not suddenly strict constitutionalists LOL They regulate the kind of socks players can wear. They don't let players have guns in the locker room or any NFL facilities which also a constitutional right . In my estimation the NFL realized if they didn't side with the players there would basically be a Mutiny, and there would effectively be a strike. So they sided with the players and had drop the whole "USA!" mask they have been using as a marketing tool for years. Now everyone is seeing the strings and smoke and mirrors. F the Steelers, and F me for thinking they were different. Thank god for Villanueava. I'm starving this beast now. My whole family has agreed NO NFL gear from here on out and Sundays are for anything but football. Ive been stepping further and further away from the game each season but this just crossed a line I didn't think possible. Don't care about the NFL anymore. ESPN is screwing themselves badly as well Edited September 25, 2017 by TaiidanTomcat

Yesterday I was out playing catch (baseball catch) with my Son when my neighbor wandered over. He is a HUGE Stealers fan...black and gold flag flying, license plate on the front of his truck, decal on the back, jersey wearing...you name it. I asked him what's up as he never misses a game. He said he shut the game off when he saw what the Stealers had done during the anthem and wouldn't watch. Is he done for good? I doubt it. But for him to walk away from a Stealers game even for one weekend says how many fans feel about the game right now.

I'm a huge Giants fan, but that was so unprofessional, so immature, ownership should fine him the max they can. This was far worse then his "affair" with the kicking net. Try explaining his "celebration" to your son and/or daughter seating next to you at home or at the game. Like I said, he's once again proved just what a jerk he is. Sooner then later his teammates will take him to task for his BS crap. Joel
Gordon Shumway
In recent years I have begun to curtail watching NFL games even though I have been a life long Sea Hawks fan but the games are getting quite boring, way too many and ill-opportune timed commercial breaks and way too politicized and P.C. speech/action driven. The Kaperdick situation of what near 2 years ago now basically added up to me switching almost completely off the NFL. That said almost all the pro sports I watch have seen me detuned to much of it. NHL hockey is no longer MUST SEE t.v. every night it's on. Formula One another longtime staple to me is also a less exciting and enthralling, more and more a manipulated sport. Drivers are no longer seen as hero-like/ gladiators on the track but are more just plastic commercial tools. CFL football still holds a bit of that down to earth idealism and can be enjoyable to watch, but it too is falling prey to wrank commercialism and P.C bullsh*t. Most pro sports today are or have left the idea of the GAME/SPORT as designed to rule as the spotlight. They are just PRODUCTS to peddle and most give NO regards to the fans except to fleece money from them. It's not that we all got /get older and more jaded, talk to old timers who were then not just children/teens 20-30-40 years ago, thus seeing these games/sports through adult eyes back then too and they still will often say the games are not the same, not as enjoyable nor desirable to follow. The business model of these sports have just forgotten about the game and fans as they engage in faux platitudes to the fans. They are cooking in their own blind corporate only juices... Attendance is down in most pro sports, not just the NFL and so too are t.v. ratings in most cases. There are many reasons for such notably costs of going, the prices of consumer products sold and the bland products presented themselves. Too much silly rules and regs, all quazi socializing of these games/sports for the guise of parity but really mediocrity. Too much froo froo fluff fluff and faux P.C. stuff. The NFL owners in this case would all like to see every team finish 8-8. The NHL likely each team finishing with 82 points. They all generally via regs and rules more or less killed off dynasties in general. It's all about THE PRODUCT not the game or sport even now it's all proverbial pablum, as long as the can get you as fans to drop BIG COIN on the crap they peddle... SO BE IT I SAY AS LONG AS YOU, WE SEE IT! I no longer plop real money towards such stuff and cut back much time I have to watch. P.C. bulls**t, politicizing sport by players, owners and mainstream media only turns me off more. Edited September 25, 2017 by Gordon Shumway
