jester292
Next build is GWH 1:48 MiG-29 Early version. It has color callouts in Mr. Color, and shows some FS equivalents. I'm not convinced the FS numbers would be good matches. C308/FS 36375 (Light Ghost Gray) C320+C325/FS 34227 (Pale Green) I don't think FS 34227 would be a good color to use. Is there an Akan or other specific color to early MiG-29s I could use? Looking for some direction here. Thanks!

Bobo1953
hi jester. i suggest that you look at the "ultimate model paint conversion chart" at: http://www.paint4models.com/ for f.s. light ghost gray see the link: http://www.paint4models.com/paintchart/paintconversionchart20100101h.html# for pale green: http://www.paint4models.com/paintchart/paintconversionchart20100101h.html# this is not a bible but i am grateful to the guy who made it for the pain it must have taken; not all the connections are actually or definitely correct, but it's a basic tool to make up an idea of who makes what. hope this helps. best ciaos, and happy modeling! bobo. Looking for some direction here. Thanks! In 1992, I color checked MiG 29UB "80' at Damgarten air show. Damgarten was at that time an operational Russian air force base in the former East Germany. The MiG is pictured here: https://www.netairspace.com/photos/UNKNOWN/Russian_Federation_Air_Force/Mikoyan_Gurevich_MiG-29/Damgarten_Closed/photo_9096/ The camouflage was 36375 and 34233 (the flat version on 24233 on my fan deck). Dielectrics and radome were 26132. Landing gear legs and wheel well interior 36375. The wheels were a green color that could not be matched with an FS595B, it's roughly a mix between 34227 and 34138. 'My' 24233 and 'your' 34227 are very close on my FS fan deck, so I think these are the right colors for an early MiG29. jester292
Great info. Thank you everyone. I didn't anticipate Russian colors being such a hurdle. I'll start with the FS numbers recommended by GWH. Model Master is easiest for me to obtain. If it doesn't turn out, I'll go for Mr Color. Thanks!
okthree
Go with the Mr Paint (MRP) you won't be sorry. MRP is different from Mr Color by Gunze. MRP is out of Slovakia . It's comes prethinned and goes on smoothly in thin layers. I'm converting over to MRP from Model Master. Testors has discontinued so many of their colors as MRP expands their line. Great service from Hobby World USA. Not to be confused with Hobby World Inc in GRR. Edited October 4, 2017 by okthree

I always understood the firm was Slovakian and their website even has the Slovakian (.sk) internet code: http://www.mrpaint.sk/ All their contact details are also in Slovakia. okthree
Slovakia. I stand corrected. Momentary brain fart. I knew that was wrong when I typed it late last night. I was just too tired to change it. Thanks for pointing that out with three posts.
