ALEXANDRE REZENDE
One big mistake I see in the HIND kits is the pilot access door ... Note how it gets very thin after riding ... In comparison, note the picture below as it is much denser and thicker (probably because of the shield) ... I applied a contour with aluminum to thicken the piece ... It has many internal details ... I incorporate all the details ... On-site testing ... Look how much better the look ... Until next post ...
UH-1Mad
very nice!

sammuel
I know it takes time for a master craftsman to produce an amazing project like this. Any future updates coming on this project? This has really peaked my curiosity. Edited December 16, 2017 by sammuel

Ok Sammuel, Follows continuation ... The gunner's cabin has many details ... I made some add-ons for both cabins ... Painting... Cylinders of O2 ... I include the gunner's seat ... This helicopter has 4 access steps ... The ones in the kit are terrible ... I cut to make more realistic steps ... And the pilot's door was painted inside ... New steps ... Simulating results ... To the next...
sammuel
Just simply amazing! Thank you for the update. I'm following your build to work on my hind. My skill level is not at your master skill, but I do hope to learn from your build report. Keep it coming.

sammuel
ALEXANDRE ; Amazing work and I'm putting some questions together for your review. 1. How did you construct the oxygen bottles? They add a nice detail that can be seen from both sides of the cockpit. 2. The template for the cockpit flooring, was that designed by you or did you get that online? I wish I can take a few hours to pick your brain. Thank you for your assistance. Sam

Sam Sammuel, follows answers: -O2 cylinders were made using sprue pieces sanded on one side to stay flat and rounded on the other end (also by sandpaper). -The floor was designed by me based on photos I observed of the original helicopter. I wish you good luck on your model!

Sirs: follows a small continuation ... I decided I wanted some movement in this kit, so I decided to create a spinning system for the rotors and navigation lights. Initially, I made a transmission system for the tail rotor using springs ... Then I noticed that it caused a lot of trepidation, so I switched to gears ... At the same time, I have refitted the compartment to receive the helicopter air conditioner ...

dnl42
What's your method for all of these metal parts? I usually take some measurements, rough-cut card stock, and then trial fit until I have the correct shape. It looks like you have a more precise method.

I measure the size, drawing the piece on the computer by CORELDRAW11, print on paper to do the fitting tests. I correct anything that goes wrong and repeat the operation. Once it's all okay it's cut on the aluminum plate. The computer corrects the angles and the measurements made by it are very accurate. This helps a lot.
dnl42
Thanks! Funny, I use Inkscape to draw decals and masks. Just didn't occur to me to use it for plate parts. I suppose I could get ambitious and cut the paper on my Silhouette Portrait as well... Edited January 2, 2018 by dnl42
Andrew D. the Jolly Rogers guy
I'm stunned. I built the same kit (Monogram Mi-24 Hind D 1/48) back in 1987; it was my first helicopter ever. MAN do I appreciate all the more the stunning work you've done.
sammuel
Alex, Your work is extremely impressive. Your cutaway portions are clean and very neat. I look forward to your progress and especially how you plan on detailing the exposed engine.
