So, will they jack up the price to Hase levels?

certainly, as it's definitely for the Japanese domestic market only.  i've been told that there was some rather high tax for plastic kits imports in japan. maybe repacking ends up being a cheaper solution.

How did you know it's an ICM repack?

Hasegawa has a long history of repacking other brands kits for the domestic market. i own a couple of their monogram reboxings.

Deduction - Hasegawa is dealer of ICM models, so next step - repack its sprues.

Or if you doubt a little bit of prior knowledge and commons sense and you need a "real" official source, then if you can read japanese or run it through goggle translate, the page of that release states that the plastic parts are from ICM.

Hasegawa's kit is 7400 JPY MSRP, or about 65.45 USD/56.48 EUR/50.34 GBP

ICM's kit is on Sprue Brothers for USD 71.49, and Hannants for 33.33 GBP (export price).

8% sales tax only, as long as the shipper declares the items correctly as "scale model assembly kit".  Those are grouped with "toys", which are duty-free.

That's right. I asked the question right after I read the first post on this thread and went on to read on the contents of the lone website provided -  http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10502191 and found nothing about the repacking issue, that's why I asked for a little clarification.

Its not taxes but the multi tiered Japanese distribution scheme which causes almost all imported kits prices to go to crazy new levels.

Think its up for just over 6400 Yen so street price will be mid 5000's actually far cheaper than direct or resale in Japan.

I bought my ICM MiG-25RBT from Model Hobbies UK for only £29.99 + cheap shipping.

I then got the MiG-25RBF nose conversion (So I can do a camo'd version) from Cold War Studios.

I think I will start on that next.
