Touch ups after decaling

Recommended Posts

I am just about finished my 1/144 C-141 and have just finished applying Caracal's fantastic decals. Unfortunately I need to touch up some areas due to my poor masking of the dark gray portion of the upper fuselage.

My question is, if I spray a coat of future over the decals, will this stop the masking tape from lifting them off the model?

Masking directly on decals is very risky. I put a piece of paper over the decal image and tape over that to keep the tape from directly touching it. Depending on the circumstance, you may be able do mask with some damp paper and not risk lifting the decal.

Not for me, it didn't.  I'd go with Grey Ghost's suggestion.

Post-it Notes and damp (not wet) newspaper cut into strips has worked for me. I'd personally not risk masking tape directly over decals.

Don
