K5054NZ
Hi all, I’d like to build a Yak-52 in 1/48 as flown in the Vietnam People’s Air Force for training. It looks like both the Amodel and ARK Models kits are currently available and reasonably priced, but which should I go for? I have a bit of experience so am not afraid to build an Amodel kit, but I’d like to know whether the ARK kit has any advantages rather than jump in with the Amodel and regret my decision. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Also if by some amazing fluke you have any cockpit photos of Vietnamese Yaks I’d love to see them!
SinisterVampire319
Would like to know too. There is a lot of Yaks and CJ's around my local airport.
dnl42
No clue about ARK, but think of all the building skills you'll gain with the Amodel. Disclaimer, I've only built Amodel's 1/144 kits--and I keep on doing them... Edited December 2, 2017 by dnl42
K5054NZ
I’ve done an Amodel Yak-18 in 1/72 and I came out alright...so did the model!
K5054NZ
I guess I need to find a Russian or Vietnamese version of the ARC forums?!
seawinder
There's not a lot that I can find online about the ARK Yak-52, but I did come across a posting to HyperScale: the newest ARK boxing comes with full resin cockpit, wheels and cowling. Lord knows what it'll be like to put them together, but it does seem to be a selling point. K5054NZ
Based on my reading over the last week I'm thinking the "Yak-54" boxing would be the way to go as the one with two -52s on the box seems to be a two-kit combo and also a bit pricey for me.
