crackerjazz
Hi, was wondering if anyone can help me regarding part E13: It's not shown in the instruction maual too well but is this how it should go on? And I guess those ribs should be visible in this photo, but how come they aren't? Also, while poring through some photos I noticed some strange contraption in the canopy interior: Anyone know what they are or can point me in the right direction? Also, am I right in assuming that they are only installed on Navy A7's? (don't see them in the photo below): Thanks in advance!
airmechaja
Can't help with what those parts are but I don't remember them on USAF D models.
scotthldr
Part E13 goes inside the rear arch of the canopy framing.
crackerjazz
Hi scotthldr, sorry for bothering you, but I still couldn't see where it should go : ( Tried different places -- doesn't really fit in the back or underneath the arch: The only spot where it fits is here: Would you be able to take a quick snapshot for me? Thanks! Edited January 8, 2018 by crackerjazz
scotthldr
The information I provided above was from looking at the on line instructions available on Hobby Search.jp , as it was a good few years ago that I built my A-7. However I just went to take a photo of my completed build and hey ho part E13 wasn't installed at point of build. I've looked at several other completed builds on line and none of them seem to have part E13 installed either, even in Zactoman's 1/32 update set there isn't anything resembling that part either. I've also looked at actual aircraft as well and although it's pretty hard to see into that area, I can't see anything remotely like part E13. madmanrick
According to the instructions in Hasegawa's PT47 kit, part E13 should be installed along the back edge of part A7 (the interior canopy framing) and part A24 (the canopy bulkhead shown above) is then installed behind it on the rear of the interior canopy framing. In this pic, E13 should go above its' current location along the rails of the interior canopy framing in its' current orientation (the red lines). The rear bulkhead is where it should be. It also appears your part (the black part, interior canopy frame) is broken or cut at the front edge and is missing the forward canopy frame (the blue circles). F4DPhantomII
It appears that part only came with the Navy A-7E versions.
crackerjazz
Cool! Thanks for the info, scotthldr and F4DPhantomII. Hi madmanrick, I must be blind --- I still don't see it  I might just use the Zacto parts as reference. Oh, about the front part-- I cut it off on purpose -- was gonna make some modifications. Will do a bit more research about this detailing as even the Zacto parts doesn't have it. Edited January 10, 2018 by crackerjazz
crackerjazz
Ok, now that I've thrown part E13 away and could no longer find it, I see where it needs to go : ( It's actually the dual-actuator canopy mechanism minus those hook-like extensions and the actuators. That must have been a lot of extra weight they were able to shed off when they converted to single actuator canopies.
