Starfighter84
Good morning to all! I'm glad to present my last work... a restoration of an old Hasegawa A-4 that I built ten years ago. I decided to put it back to workbench due to the "crack" of the fuselage: 21616109_10210113589216277_2086911637920727775_n by valerio, su Flickr While I was at it, I scratchbuilt a new UHF dorsal hump (the one in the Hasegawa kit is wrong in dimensions and shape) using the cutting plotter: A-4SU Restoration_11 by valerio, su Flickr A-4SU Restoration_10 by valerio, su Flickr There was other details to fix, like a small naca intake on the main right engine intake, but the model was almost assembled and was very difficul to add this new parts. This is the final result! the decals are from Miliverse - many thanks to Mark (the owner) for his advice and pics! Janissary
Beautiful work as always! What did you use to remove the paint and how did you do it?
Whiskey
^^^ i second that question. Also what did you do to get such a nice, flat and even coat on it? i was scrolling through those photos and was just in awe on how beautiful of a paint job that truly is. Alternative, if you use the acrylic paints the classic alcohol works well. 12 hours ago, Whiskey said: ^^^ i second that question. For the flat finish I always use Gunze H-20 thinnered with nitro (that one you can find in the hardware shop). NOT USE lacquer thinner Tamiya o Mr.Levelling Thinner otherwise you obtain a satin surface! ;) Edited February 7, 2018 by Starfighter84
skyhawk174
Wow that came out great. Nice work on restoring this kit. That is one of my favourite schemes on a Skyhawk. You can really see the difference in the ECM bump and I think the Hasegawa one is from the Argentine Navy Skyhawks. I know there was a resin Update set for the Singapore Skyhawks but I think it is out of production now. It was released by a hobby shop in Singapore.
