B-ONE27
Interested in a model masters equivalent in acrylic in the color of gray black for painting tires. NATO black seems like it might work but wanted to know if anyone has had success using another color. I have a Vallero Air gray black however I'd prefer model masters. Thanks. RichardL
Most of us would use actual "Rubber & Tires" color from AMMO by Mig, Mr. Paint, or Gunze. If you insist on sticking with Model Master, then I think NATO black is the closest. You can also mix your own by adding some gray to flat black, maybe 3-4 parts Black to one part Engine Gray. RichardL
BTW, Mission Models also makes "Tire Black" in acrylic that sprays beautifully, just in case anyone is interested.
Grey Ghost 531
I use flat black with about 5-10% Panzer Yellow added by eye. It works with either Tamiya acrylic or Model Master enamels for me. NATO black is a little green tinged and I don't think it looks right for tires.
dnl42
Mr Color has "tire black" (137). Vallejo has "dark rubber" (306). They also have "light rubber" (305) for WW1 tires. These both need primer!
