Is the Tomahawk Mk. II the same as the previous P-40B/C release? I thought the Mk. II was the equivalent to the P-40 F and L variants. Yet the directions refer to it as the P-40B.  I thought the P-40 B/C in RAF service was designed Tomahawk IIA and IIB. Is there a way to tell the difference?

You might be thinking of the Kittyhawk II/IIa... that's the RAF/Commonwealth equivalent of the P-40F/L.  The P-40B/C was called the Tomahawk, the P-40D onwards was called the Kittyhawk.

From what I understand, there's no difference between the two Airfix releases, except the decals... although I'm not 100% sure!  The RAF/Commonwealth versions used .303 guns of course, and I seem to remember the pitot being different from the US versions?  I have the Tomahawk boxing, and grabbed the Master set (http://www.master-model.pl/product/am-48-136.html) as well.  I'll be doing an RAAF version.

Hope this helps!

externally P40B/C and H81A2/3 Tomahawk are same. They differ by steel blade propeller for H81 and steel or dural blade on P40. the Pitot head is cranked on H81 and straight on P40. the armor glass is straight on H81 and had an lateral offset on P40.
many others differences, but not visible, as the gun fire protection of fuel tank, armor plate, flying instruments(no artificial horizon on H81)....

If you are doing a British or American P-40 these are some pretty nice aftermarket parts.

British seat and harness. Also props, exhaust and tires and wheels too.

Nice set of .303's and pitot in metal.
