achterkirch
F/A-18F from VFA-213 crash a mile short of NaS key west’s runway. I believe they are still search firm the crew after they ejected. Edit: crew found. At local hospital getting checked out. http://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/19261/navy-f-a-18f-super-hornet-belonging-to-vfa-231-black-lions-crashed-off-key-west Edited March 15, 2018 by achterkirch

Niels
Tragic, condowlances to the families of the pilots! Red warning triangles on the inlet indicates this to be the CO's bird, likely AJ200 bu.no. 166663?
tosouthern66
Sad news indeed! RIP Naval Aviators are hearts and prayers are with you, your family and your shipmates!
southwestforests
Knowing from the start that it is a dangerous business doesn't make the losses hurt less. I hope the families have someone who can be there with them through this.

tosouthern66
If you have the Furballaero Team Factory decals you can build a VFA-213 jet with Lt. Caleb Nathaniel King who was killed in the crash. I have a kit nearly done just waiting on clearing and decaling. Instead of going with VFA-41 I will change it over to his jet in his honor.

Looks like it was the CAG bird, coincidentally, I got pics of it and a sister bird, 204, from a couple days prior to this tragedy when they made a stop at BWI/TM. I saw that jet parked on the GA ramp at BWI a few weeks ago. The CAG jet and a line jet, they were there to do the flyover the next night at the out Caps hockey game at the Naval Academy stadium.
