Pierre Sacha
Good day, I have a question about the underside on a MiG-17F fighter. Just ahead of the ventral fin on the under belly there is a square and a round window in my kit (old Airfix 1/48) provided as clear parts. I have now looked at literally hundreds of pictures and still cannot make out whether these windows need to be clear or painted over. I am building an early Soviet MiG-17F in bare metal finish. Can someone help me in this regard, maybe a Russian modeler? Also, would the ejection seat have been the early looking flat seat or the more modern looking seat with the boxy headrest. I apologize for my crude descriptions. Thank you kindly, Pierre
GW8345
IAW Squadron Signal Walk-around for the Mig 17, the square panel is for the MRP-48P Khrizantema marker beacon receiver and the round panel is for the ARK-5 Amur radio compass, the round panel is clear, the square panel is painted. hth
Andrew D. the Jolly Rogers guy
All MiG-17F's had the boxy headrest. The earlier MiG-17 Fresco A (non-afterburning type) had the MiG-15 style seat.
