The F9F-3 Panther is finished so I can post this. This is going to be

a fast build. It's the old Hasegawa F-16A Plus out of box using the

Dutch decals. I love the looks of the early Falcons, this one is an

F-16A block 15.The only armament will be the wing tip Sidewinders

and Sidewinders on pylons under the wings, no other tanks or bombs,

pretty clean.I like the way this is going, am thinking of building one for

the Top Gun group build,  the Haswgawa 1/72 F-16N. I was going to do

Ice's F-14 but the F-16 agressor is just too cool and I've built umpteen

million Tomcats over the years. Here's my build so far.---John

Hello, question on the burner can for this model. The instructions show flame holder

C-12 inserting into burner can B-9 and lining up with a slot molded in B-9. My part

B-9 has no slot to align C-12 to it. It does however have the tab on the fuselage

just under the tail to align the slot in the flame holder C-12. Is my burner can a short

shot missing the slot or has Hasegawa never molded it? Please see pictures below

for clarification. Thanks---John As a side note why is the burner can "cam shaped" in

cross section? The flame holder sorta mimics it, is that the "magic" answer?

Most of the builders here put a lot of effort in their models,

and i believe that your little problem is not noticeable because your built look like totally out of the box

without any alignment whatsoever.. In my way it is absolute okay to do just like that..

You can make a pretty decent model anyway.. So just glue it on and paint the model nice!

Hi,

It is a long time since I built my Hasegawa 1/72 Viper, so maybe the answer doesn't help you that much ;-)

As far as I remember, the thicker part is the bottom of the part. It doesn't look like a short shot.

Another help is the shape of the engine fairing. On the bottom of the fuselage the edge of the fairing is curved.

Cheers,

markus

Thanks Markus, I went to a walk around at Prime Portal and that's what

I found. Cured my "little problem" with some common sense and a few

good stares at Prime Portal. I built one long ago and it seems I had that

problem before. Too bad I don't have the photographic memory I use to

some 50 plus years ago.---John

I maked and sprayed the top gunship gray. I used Tamiya spray can

paint AS-27, Gunship Gray 2. Next will be the nose, I have some neutral

gray Tamiya spray for that.---John

Thanks, I have the burner can assembled and painted, outside is steel and inside

is black flame holder with white and metalic petals inside. I also have the missiles

painted. No updates for a while, will be back sometime next week.---John

I built the Hasegawa F-16D kit as a Nellis Airbase Aggressor a year or two back, , the fuselage is the same & I recall having an issue with the burner can but seem to remember it was sorted fairly easily as you seem to have done. your bird looks rather nice in that scheme, better than I'd have imagined it would.  I'll look forward to seeing it done. 🙂

Thanks, that's my next build an aggressor from Top Gun, F-16N. I'm

using Hasegawa's 1/72 F-16N kit. I just took the masks off. I did

light ghost gray, Tamiya AS-26. Just waiting on the dark ghost gray

to come in the mail, then mask, spray and the painting is done.---John
