1/48 F-14A Tomcat VF-111 "Miss Molly" (Tamiya)

Recommended Posts

Hi Folks,

Here is my recently finished Tamiya Tomcat depicting "Miss Molly", a Tomcat of the VF-111 Sundowners as it was painted in 1989.

It is the 1/48 Tamiya kit with decals from Furball Aero Sesign (Sundowners Anthology)

I used some aftermarket to bring the cat to block 125 standard:

Steel Beach vinyl tail stiffeners

Steel Beach RWR antennas

Quickboost TCS chinpod

Eduard Brassin late wheels

Eduard Brassin ejection seats

Eduard Brassin AIM-7E + AIM-9L

I had to do the painting and decals twice. because of a bad reaction in the final clear coat, I decided to strip the paint completely and restart from the bare plastic.

Waethering is minimal, since at least most of the aircraft was freshly painted, at least on the few pictures available of this jet.

I gave the jet a subtle pre shading and a panel line wash with Tamiya panel line enhancer in grey, and a few oil streaks in front of the engines.

There ar no in-progress pictures, because it was a quite straightforward build.

Beautiful work, one question, is that the kit beavertail?

Hi!

It is the kit beavertail, but with the Steel Beach RWR antenna from the Block 125 update

Cheers,

Markus
