ScaleWorx
Hi guys, Just completed the masters for the Mirage IIID2Z arrestor hook, based on the Kinetic 1/48 Mirage IIID kit. Here are some pics of work in progress to completion. Cheers, John
ScaleWorx
First resin casting of the 1/48 Mirage IIID2Z arrester hook. Now one can build a more accurate Mirage IIID2Z with the Kinetic Mirage IIID kit. :) The Belgian Mirage V BD also had the same arrester hook, so it will be useful to model that too. Those who are interested in this set can email me at scaleworx@yahoo.com Cheers, John
Pierre Sacha
Howzit, there south of the Oranje, John I got hold of the Wingman Models tailhook insert for the Belgian Mirage 5BA. They feature two triangular blades sticking out next to the hook itself, probably scrape protectors or something. Are these missing from the SAAF version? Are you also making some VOR blade antennas for the vertical fin? Regards, Pierre Edited May 1, 2018 by Pierre Sacha
ScaleWorx
Hi Pierre, The SAAF version did not have the two triangular guard plates like the Belgian ones, but the ventral fairing and hook is identical. These triangular guard plates can be easily made from very thin plastic card. The two VOR blade antennas you are referring to, are actually in the Kinetic kit as parts no.7 on Sprue B, but they do not appear for use on the instructions.
