Kinetic RCAF 20 years CF-18 up for pre-order

Recommended Posts

Wow, that is a really cool scheme. I am very tempted. Looks like Leading Edge has done this scheme. Anyone want to part with theirs?  Actually, now that I think of it, if anyone has them, they'll probably go on eBay for more than the kit.

P.S. Kinetic posted about this version on Facebook on May 24th. They hint that it will be released in June.

It wasn’t a secret this was being released, it was in their 2018 catalogue.

Guess I never saw the catalogue.

I’ll be waiting til it’s released to order. Love my RCAF 2017 bird and the kinetic kit is actually fun to build. I’m just burned out on pre ordering after pre ordering a few things over a year ago, that still haven’t been released. It’s like I have the Midas touch, and the story version, not the “good” idealized one.

I like these special releases.... but I would much rather see specials that have not been released. Also would like to see standard scheme markings with cockpit decals, armaments included

I'd like the option to build any version of the legacy bug from each kit.

Cheers

Emil

I agree. I just don’t know why the people are crazy about the preorder something in the air.

Well, if the preorder is offered at a special cheaper price, that is a very good reason to do it. Some are and some aren't. Often hard to tell if the price is a discount or not unless the vendor displays it as such.

Well, most the pre-orders I purchase offer a special introductory price. I don’t think this is true for Kinetic kits, but it is true for most others. Once the pre-order window ends the price goes up. This is true for every GWH kit I have ordered and most Tamiya kits, depending on the vendor.

I’m very hopeful you also release the 75th Anniversary jet, which was very popular as was the Millennium jet.

This new release will be nice to get if you have any interest in that scheme. I have the Leading Edge decal for that but I am sure it was designed for the Hasegawa kit and will not fit the new Kinetic CF-18. This is one of the few CAF anniversary schemes that I like. I will probably pick up this new release and get rid of my Leading Edge decal.

I’m sure Dave gave a Kinetic advice on what were hot and fast sellers and that is how this scheme was selected.

I’m interested to see what other Canadian CF-18 schemes Kinetic releases, Raymond stated on Facebook that there are more to come.

I'm happy they are designed by Leading Edge and are printed by Cartograf.

I love a lot of the Canadian anniversary schemes. I've got three I want to build already and Kinetic is making it very hard to resist this latest one. I wish it was at a discounted price for the preorder. Would make it more tempting, probably irresistible 😉.

Yeah you are probably right Gary. I had also heard that many of his anniversary decals were not selling and that is why he stopped doing them? It may have also been a bit of anniversary scheme overload. I loved when the CAF only did the tails and there were some of those that were just great. Hey as long as Kinetic don't do that abomination of a scheme that was called the McDonald's jet. Yuck, yuck and double yuck.

Yeah and I am happy Dave is helping Kinetic and they are printed by Cartograf.

At Kinetic we usually will not do too much decal rebox of the kit(except the F-16 series). But the reason why we release the CF-188 series is because the color used in the decal is extensive and it would be very expensive to print by aftermarket company (normally 500 sheets).  If those decal printed nowadays, owning to the low production volume I guess the decal itself would cost more than 39 alone. therefore those high number of color decal sheet is really a ‘Limited Edition’ as the decal goes out, it would

be hard to justify to reprint.

We know Leading edge for 10 years before, the reason for them not selling to fast is because of low production volume and high price(but the maker does not make good profit), therefore we step in to help to bring back the customer want marking printed by cartograph with the help of Kinetic worldwide distribution (to keep the cost down)

We consider the decal rebox basically on the high production cost run for AM company (or from time to time base on distributor request)

So of the supplies is already in limited run, the preorder will serve as the secure supply on the item.

But we will only make decal variant at 9 months aparts.

Great information Raymond, I am excited for David to get his decals back in print. I am pre-ordering one of these kits and will order every special scheme that you release! Thank you for the Canadian content, Rick would love to see what you have continued to do with Kinetic!

Can't wait for the next 9 months to pass so I can see the next surprise!

I hope you come out with the 2003 Tiger Meet jet, that was my personal favorite. I don't believe Dave did that one though.

There were 3 tigermeet hornets......

91/92/03

The 91 Hornet was done be siniagraph decals were actuall rub on..... and are very rare. Tried to get Canuck to add the tiger head as it was a standard symetrical scheme with stripes painted on.

Leading Edge did the 92 hornet

And flightdecs did the 2003 hornet.

What I hope to see are the schemes not done. I'd like to see 2011 through 2016 including this year 2018.

He was blocked from producing it. I had the FlightDecs sheets but recently sold it. I have to admit, that was one of my favorites too, despite it being a 410 jet.

My favorite jet was my jet, which was designed on my suggestion/request, the 712 Lynx Hornet.

I had the Flight Decs sheet too, but it wasn't very well done in my opinion. You could see all the dots in the printing up close. I ended up giving mine to Colin K for a project he was doing. I hope Kinetic releases it with some better quality decals

I put mine on eBay, it was bid up over $150.00. I then turned that money into a SWS Phantom.

I don't understand why folks will pay so much more for a kit with special release decals when said kit is otherwise the same doggone kit with the same plastic parts as one released in another boxing? Geniunely cuirious & not trying to slam anyone or bust your balls in a public forum. I'm legit man-to-man curious. However, I do have a kit or two of these Candian Hornets & I have no need for the decals being the plastic is all the same except for some of the kits that had the inaccurate stabs. I use aftermarket decals with all of my biulds. If anyone has another boxing of another Kinetic Hornet that can be made into a CF-188 (pretty much any Kinetic Hornet) that will depict this special Demo Hornet, then send me a line & we can work out a frag o.

Are you saying you bought the new kit, with the demo decals and have no use for said decals?

We rebox a kit base on the decal marking production cost.

Like in the CF-188 boxing, the number of color used is over 17 colors. For aftermarket company, they normally produce 500-1000 sheets and selling for $20. But the CF-188 type decal, they may need to sell up to $30/sheet to cover the cost as they have lower production run.

Therefore, we decide to rebox a decal with demand and it is not good for AM company to do, then we go for rebox with high number to lower the cost.

Like the CF-188, if you get a standard kit + aftermarket decal, the final cost will be higher than the price we offer on the market.
