Revell 1/72 F-4F to an F-4E?

Recommended Posts

Can this be done? I read the F-4E had slotted stabs and the F

didn't. Also the F didn't use the missile wells? I am guessing these

are the main areas of concern. ---John

Revell's F-4F has the missile wells in it. Just get a pair of slotted stabs and replace the AMRAAMs from the kit with some Sparrows, and you have a Slatted F-4E set of plastic.

I just checked. You will need to enlarge the slot for the stabs just a bit.

the good news is that it will be easy to check as you go, because of that long triangle mounting that Monogram gives us.

(or file down the leading and aft edges of the triangle tabs)

And replace the Revell skinny tanks, the angled fin top, fix the tub height, and ignore the really bad intakes and canopy ... for starters. But the fit and engineering are great.

Yeah Gene, that is why I have two in the box, stacked "after" the antique Esci and Monogram toolings that I rescue from sales tables at every show I go to.

they are handy for "what comes in those boxes" questions, though
