This will be the last for me to start for a while. It's Monogram's

1/72 F-4C/D kit which I am doing as an early F-4C with gray over

white color scheme. I am going as far as I can, I am not buying an

after market Mk 5 seat or special wing tanks. I have removed the

antenna on the tip of the tail's leading edge, cut off and saved the

tail pitot tubes, cut off the lump at the bend of the IR housing which

only the D model had and will sand off the Navy refueling probe door.

I'm not sure of which one to do, I kind of fancy this F-4C at Cam Ranh

Bay with the gun pod and napalm bombs. The kit has the gun pod, not

sure where to get the napalm.---John

I have the IR seeker pod all filled and sanded to a nice smooth transition

like the picture above. The kink wasn't too noticeable, I had this kit in 1/48

and it really showed up in that scale.---John

Thanks, I installed the wings to the fuselage. It was a bit too tight, almost 2mm, I had

to sand the wing roots down a bit as I had to almost force the fuselage into the gap

between them, that forced the wing tops to start and separate from the bottom. To

cure it I sanded almost 1mm off each wing root of the bottom wing assembly. It still

has a snug fit but the wing halves no longer wanted to separate.---John

I have the intakes painted inside and installed. The left side

went on with no problem, the right side needs some TLC. I

got a good fit top and end on the right intake but the bottom

where it joins the bottom wing section has a gap. I had this exact

problem on my 1/72 Monogram F-4J Showtime 100 and my

1/72 Monogram F-4J UK which is still in progress. I think it's the

wing bottom that is warped. Once the glue dries on the top and end

joint I'll put some super glue on the intake and push the wing bottom

up to it and clamp it till dry. Here's two pics, the first shows the left

side intake installed and tapped to dry and the right side with the gap

at the bottom.---John

Thanks, the drop tanks and MERs have been added. It's now ready for

it's gray over white camo scheme. The load will be 2 Mk 117 bombs on

each MER, 4 sparrows in the wells, gun pod on the center line station and

drop tanks on outer wing pylons.---John
